Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Electromagnetically-induced transparency assists the Raman gradient echo memory at moderate detuning, dependent on gradient order

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
Optical quantum memories are essential for quantum communications and photonic quantum technologies. Ensemble optical memories based on 3-level interactions are a popular basis for implementing these memories. All such memories, however, suffer from loss

Impact of charge noise on electron exchange interactions in semiconductors

open access: yesnpj Quantum Information, 2022
The electron exchange interaction is a promising medium for the entanglement of single-spin qubits in semiconductors as it results in high-speed two-qubit gates.

One‐Dimensional Materials Supported in Two‐Dimensional Van der Waals Metal–Organic Frameworks with Optical Anisotropy Switching via Twist‐Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a molecular strategy to assemble one‐dimensional (1D) materials into two‐dimensional (2D) van der Waals metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Crystals of [FeX(pzX)(bpy)] (X = Cl, F) form anisotropic 2D layers that can be mechanically exfoliated into thin sheets.

Holism, Physical Theories and Quantum Mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Motivated by the question what it is that makes quantum mechanics a holistic theory (if so), I try to define for general physical theories what we mean by `holism'.

Large‐Area 2D Metasurface‐Based Triboelectric E‐Skin Arrays: Contact & Proximity Tactile Mapping with Broadband Acoustic Readouts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurface‐engineered NC‐TENG arrays integrate tactile pressure mapping, non‐contact gesture sensing, and acoustic signal readouts in one ultrathin module, and outperforms pristine PDMS in terms of electrical output and real‐time spatial mapping for next‐gen wearables.

Neuromorphic Electronics for Intelligence Everywhere: Emerging Devices, Flexible Platforms, and Scalable System Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The perspective presents an integrated view of neuromorphic technologies, from device physics to real‐time applicability, while highlighting the necessity of full‐stack co‐optimization. By outlining practical hardware‐level strategies to exploit device behavior and mitigate non‐idealities, it shows pathways for building efficient, scalable, and ...
