Synchrotron Radiation for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials and interfaces underpin quantum technologies, with synchrotron and FEL methods key to understanding and optimizing them. Advances span superconducting and semiconducting qubits, 2D materials, and topological systems, where strain, defects, and interfaces govern performance.

Deterministic entanglement of photons in two superconducting microwave resonators

open access: yes, 2010
Quantum entanglement, one of the defining features of quantum mechanics, has been demonstrated in a variety of nonlinear spin-like systems. Quantum entanglement in linear systems has proven significantly more challenging, as the intrinsic energy level ...

Controlled quantum secret sharing [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica Scripta, 2006
We present a new protocol in which a secret multiqubit quantum state $\ket $ is shared by $n$ players and $m$ controllers, where $\ket $ is the encoding state of a quantum secret sharing scheme. The players may be considered as field agents responsible for carrying out a task, using the secret information encrypted in $\ket $, while the controllers ...

Photoactivation of NV Centers in Diamond via Continuous Wave Laser Illumination of Shallow As‐Implanted Nitrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an alternative method of creating charge‐stable negatively charged nitrogen vacancy (NV−) centers close to the diamond surface without high‐temperature annealing. By illuminating nitrogen‐implanted regions with a continuous‐wave 405 nm laser, NV− centers are induced, exhibiting electron spin coherence properties suitable for ...

Quantum control, quantum information processing, and quantum-limited metrology with trapped ions

open access: yes, 2005
We briefly discuss recent experiments on quantum information processing using trapped ions at NIST. A central theme of this work has been to increase our capabilities in terms of quantum computing protocols, but we have also applied the same concepts to ...

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

All Optical Switch of Vacuum Rabi Oscillations: The Ultrafast Quantum Eraser

open access: yes, 2010
We study the all-optical time-control of the strong coupling between a single cascade three-level quantum emitter and a microcavity. We find that only specific arrival-times of the control pulses succeed in switching-off the Rabi oscillations.

Copper‐based Materials for Photo and Electrocatalytic Process: Advancing Renewable Energy and Environmental Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cu‐based catalysts as a cornerstone in advancing sustainable energy technologies are fully reviewed in this manuscript, highlighting their potential in photo‐ and electrocatalysis. It includes metallic copper, copper oxides, copper sulfides, copper halide perovskites, copper‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), and covalent organic frameworks (COFs),

Engineering Porous Hollow Metal‐Poly(Heptazine Imide) Spheres: An Optimized Synthetic Strategy for Controlling Surface, Morphology, and Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hollow poly(heptazine imide) spheres are prepared through a novel approach that integrates hard templating with ionothermal synthesis. This method enables precise control over surface area, pore volume, hydrophilicity, light absorption, band position, and metal composition. These tunable properties facilitate the customized design of semiconductors for

Non-Hermitian interacting quantum walks of correlated photons

open access: yesCommunications Physics
The non-Hermitian skin effect (NHSE), referring to the anomalous localization of eigenstates, has been widely discussed in single-particle systems. However, the interplay between the interacting NHSE and the quantum optical phenomena remains elusive ...
