Dynamics of quantum discord in asymmetric and local non-Markovian environments [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
The non-Markovian decoherence of quantum and classical correlations is analytically obtained when two qubits are asymmetrically subjected to the bit flip channel and phase flip channel. For one class of initial mixed states, quantum correlations quantified by quantum discord decay synchronously with classical correlations.

Quantum coherences of indistinguishable particles

open access: yes, 2017
We study different notions of quantum correlations in multipartite systems of distinguishable and indistinguishable particles. Based on the definition of quantum coherence for a single particle, we consider two possible extensions of this concept to the ...

Enhanced Terahertz Spectroscopy of a Monolayer Transition Metal Dichalcogenide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An ad‐hoc engineered metallic surface is employed to perform enhanced terahertz spectroscopy of a monolayer transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD). Thanks to a local absorption boost of 104, this technique allows for the extraction of the phonon resonance features and effective permittivity of the 2D material, paving the way for the rational design of ...

Experimental cyclic inter-conversion between Coherence and Quantum Correlations

open access: yes, 2017
Quantum resource theories seek to quantify sources of non-classicality that bestow quantum technologies their operational advantage. Chief among these are studies of quantum correlations and quantum coherence.

Off‐Stoichiometry Engineering of the Electrical and Optical Properties of SrNbO3 Using Oxide Molecular Beam Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The plasma edge of transparent conducting oxide SrNbO3 shifts from ∼2 eV in the visible range to 1.37 eV in the near‐infrared region by off‐stoichiometry using the vacancy sites as quasi‐substitutional virtual elements. This work advances the stoichiometry engineering of perovskite oxides using oxide molecular beam epitaxy, allowing synthesis beyond ...

Characterizing nonclassical correlations via local quantum Fisher information

open access: yes, 2018
We define two ways of quantifying the quantum correlations based on quantum Fisher information (QFI) in order to study the quantum correlations as a resource in quantum metrology.

Nanoscale Agglomeration Mechanisms of BF‐DPB:BPyMPM Donor–Acceptor Systems for Organic Optoelectronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The intermolecular and molecule‐substrate interactions and resulting molecular assembly of the OLED and OPV donor and acceptor molecules BF‐DPB and BPyMPM are investigated on different single crystalline substrates using high‐resolution scanning probe microscopy.

Quantum convolution and quantum correlation algorithms are physically impossible [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2003
The key step in classical convolution and correlation algorithms, the componentwise multiplication of vectors after initial Fourier Transforms, is shown to be physically impossible to do on quantum states. Then this is used to show that computing the convolution or correlation of quantum state coefficients violates quantum mechanics, making convolution

Switching From Acceptor to FRET Donor: How the Organic Solar Cell Architecture Can Change the Role of a Chromophore

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The non‐fullerene acceptor o‐IDT‐BT‐DCV is used in both binary and ternary blends to investigate the role that it plays in each device architecture. The charge generation pathways are found to differ between the binary and ternary blends with o‐IDT‐BT‐DCV becoming a second donor in the ternary blend.
