Decoherence in infinite quantum systems

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 2002
Summary: Environmentally induced classical properties in quantum spin systems in the thermodynamic limit are discussed. In particular, it is shown that such a system, subjected to a specific interaction with another quantum system, may be described for all practical purposes as a classical dynamical system.

Decoherence in quantum cosmology

Physical Review D, 1989
We discuss the manner in which the gravitational field becomes classical in quantum cosmology. This involves two steps. First, one must show that the quantum state of the gravitational field becomes strongly peaked about a set of classical configurations.
