Interaction and quantum decoherence [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica B: Condensed Matter, 1998
We discuss a fundamental effect of the interaction-induced decoherence of the electron wave function in disordered metals. In the first part of the paper we consider a simple model of a quantum particle interacting with a bath of harmonic oscillators and analyze the physical origin of the effect.

Decoherence in quantum mechanics [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Physics, 2011
We study decoherence in a simple quantum mechanical model using two approaches. Firstly, we follow the conventional approach to decoherence where one is interested in solving the reduced density matrix from the perturbative master equation. Secondly, we consider our novel correlator approach to decoherence where entropy is generated by neglecting ...

Squeezing of Primordial Gravitational Waves as Quantum Discord

open access: yesUniverse, 2020
We investigate the squeezing of primordial gravitational waves (PGWs) in terms of quantum discord. We construct a classical state of PGWs without quantum discord and compare it with the Bunch−Davies vacuum.

Optimal teleportation via noisy quantum channels without additional qubit resources

open access: yesnpj Quantum Information, 2021
Quantum teleportation exemplifies how the transmission of quantum information starkly differs from that of classical information and serves as a key protocol for quantum communication and quantum computing.

Quantum Erasure of Decoherence [PDF]

open access: yesOpen Systems & Information Dynamics, 2007
We consider the classical algebra of observables that are diagonal in a given orthonormal basis, and define a complete decoherence process as a completely positive map that asymptotically converts any quantum observable into a diagonal one, while preserving the elements of the classical algebra.

QUANTUM DISCORD, DECOHERENCE AND QUANTUM PHASE TRANSITION [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 2012
Quantum discord is a more general measure of quantum correlations than entanglement and has been proposed as a resource in certain quantum information processing tasks. The computation of discord is mostly confined to two-qubit systems for which an analytical calculational scheme is available.

Frictional quantum decoherence [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, 2007
The dynamics associated with a measurement-based master equation for quantum Brownian motion are investigated. A scheme for obtaining time evolution from general initial conditions is derived. This is applied to analyze dissipation and decoherence in the evolution of both a Gaussian and a Schr dinger cat initial state.

Identification of Time-Varying Decoherence Rates for Open Quantum Systems

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Quantum Engineering, 2021
Parameter identification of quantum systems is a fundamental task in developing practical quantum technology. In this article, we study the identification of time-varying decoherence rates for open quantum systems.

Decoherence-Induced Sudden Death of Entanglement and Bell Nonlocality

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
Decoherence due to the unwanted interaction between a quantum system and environment leads to the degradation of quantum coherence. In particular, for an entangled state, decoherence makes a loss of entanglement and Bell nonlocality known as entanglement
