Geometric measure of quantum discord for entanglement of Dirac fields in noninertial frames

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2015
We investigate the geometric measure of quantum discord of all possible bipartite divisions of a tripartite system of Dirac fields in noninertial frames. As a comparison, we calculate the geometric measure of entanglement.

Computed tomography of the equine caudal spine and pelvis: Technique, image quality and anatomical variation in 56 clinical cases (2018–2023)

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Cross‐sectional imaging improves the diagnostic accuracy of complex anatomical regions. Computed tomography (CT) of the pelvis and caudal spine in a large group of live horses and ponies has not been previously reported. Objective To describe the procedure for acquiring CT images of horses' caudal spine/pelvis under general ...

Do Formal Stance Strategies Reveal Disciplinary Variation in Professional Scientific Writing?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stance in academic discourse has been extensively studied, with numerous investigations indicating that its expression varies across disciplines, depending on the authors’ intention to either enhance or diminish their voice or presence (e.g., It seems fairly certain vs. This is based on the belief that…).

Action, passion, power

open access: yesNoûs, EarlyView.
Abstract The active/passive distinction, once a hallmark of classical metaphysics, has largely been discarded from contemporary thought. The revival of powers theory has not seen an equally vigorous rehabilitation of the real distinction between active and passive powers. I begin an analysis and vindication with a critique of E.J. Lowe's discussion.

Galileo's ship and the relativity principle

open access: yesNoûs, EarlyView.
Abstract It is widely acknowledged that the Galilean Relativity Principle, according to which the laws of classical systems are the same in all inertial frames in relative motion, has played an important role in the development of modern physics. It is also commonly believed that this principle holds the key to answering why, for example, we do not ...

The bayesian and the abductivist

open access: yesNoûs, EarlyView.
Abstract A major open question in the borderlands between epistemology and philosophy of science concerns whether Bayesian updating and abductive inference are compatible. Some philosophers—most influentially Bas van Fraassen—have argued that they are not.

Preparing remote states for genuine quantum networks

open access: yesCommunications Physics
Quantum networks typically comprise quantum channels, repeaters, and end nodes. Remote state preparation (RSP) allows one end node to prepare the states of the other end nodes remotely.
