Quantum Dissipative Chaos

open access: yes, 1993
Using the decoherence formalism of Gell-Mann and Hartle, a quantum system is found which is the equivalent of the classical chaotic Duffing oscillator. The similarities and the differences from the classical oscillator are examined; in particular, a new concept of quantum maps is introduced, and alterations in the classical strange attractor due to the

High‐Transmission Mid‐Infrared Bandpass Filters using Hybrid Metal‐Dielectric Metasurfaces for CO2 Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
This article presents a hybrid metal‐dielectric metasurface in transmission mode for mid‐infrared (MIR) spectroscopy. Composed of germanium on aluminium cylinders atop a calcium fluoride substrate, the metasurface achieves 80% transmission efficiency at λ = 2.6 µm with a narrow full‐width‐half‐maximum of 0.4 µm.

Rapid Quantum Ground State Preparation via Dissipative Dynamics

open access: yesPhysical Review X
Inspired by natural cooling processes, dissipation has become a promising approach for preparing low-energy states of quantum systems. However, the potential of dissipative protocols remains unclear beyond certain commuting Hamiltonians.

Influence of Outcoupling Layers on Top‐Emitting Perovskite Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
Top‐emitting perovskite LEDs offer benefits over typical bottom‐emitting architectures, toward lasing, improved thermal management, and on‐chip fabrication compatibility. Outcoupling layers offer a strategy uniquely applicable to top‐emitting LEDs to optimize EQE by improving optical outcoupling.

Room-temperature quantum nanoplasmonic coherent perfect absorption

open access: yesNature Communications
Light-matter superposition states obtained via strong coupling play a decisive role in quantum information processing, but the deleterious effects of material dissipation and environment-induced decoherence inevitably destroy coherent light-matter ...

Dissipation Alters Modes of Information Encoding in Small Quantum Reservoirs near Criticality

open access: yesEntropy
Quantum reservoir computing (QRC) has emerged as a promising paradigm for harnessing near-term quantum devices to tackle temporal machine learning tasks. Yet, identifying the mechanisms that underlie enhanced performance remains challenging, particularly
