Spin-dependent transport of interacting electrons in mesoscopic systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Spin-dependent electronic transport properties of mesoscopic systems are studied using the nonequilibrium Green function formalism. In the first part we examine the influence of short-range electron-electron interactions on the conductance of quantum ...

Toward Enhanced Inertial Sensing via Dynamically Soft Topological States in Piezoelectric Microacoustic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A piezoelectric microacoustic wave device exploiting topologically protected interface states with significantly higher dynamic compliance than Lamb or Rayleigh modes achieves record‐high out‐of‐plane particle velocities exceeding 51 m/s. These findings indicate that leveraging topological interface states can overcome key limitations of piezoelectric ...

Mimicking Silent Synapse Recruitment: A SiOx/Cu‐Pancake Memristive Device For Analog Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electroforming‐free TiN/SiOx/Cu/SiOx/TiN memristive devices exploit pancake‐like Cu nanoparticles embedded in a SiOx double layer to create a heterogeneous Schottky‐barrier landscape. Under bias, oxygen‐vacancy redistribution progressively lowers local barriers and recruits initially inactive Cu‐PC pathways into a parallel conduction ensemble, enabling

Markovian evolution of strongly coupled harmonic oscillators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate how to model Markovian evolution of coupled harmonic oscillators, each of them interacting with a local environment. When the coupling between the oscillators is weak, dissipation may be modeled using local Lindblad terms for each of the ...

Enhanced Tantalum Superconducting Resonator Performance via All‐Surface Organic Monolayer Passivation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The internal quality factor of tantalum superconducting resonators is significantly increased by ∼140% in the low photon regime by passivating their surfaces with a high‐quality alkene self‐assembled monolayer. Our methodology promises to enhance the performance of superconducting quantum circuits.

Quantum theory of heating of a single trapped ion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The heating of trapped ions due to the interaction with a quantized environment is studied without performing the Born–Markov approximation. A generalized master equation local in time is derived and a novel theoretical approach to solve it analytically ...

Quantum Algorithms for Nonlinear Dynamics: Revisiting Carleman Linearization with No Dissipative Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Scientific Computing
In this paper, we explore the embedding of nonlinear dynamical systems into linear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) via the Carleman linearization method.
