Excitonic properties of strained wurtzite and zinc-blende GaN/Al(x)Ga(1-x)N quantum dots [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Appl. Phys. 94, 7178 (2003), 2003
We investigate exciton states theoretically in strained GaN/AlN quantum dots with wurtzite (WZ) and zinc-blende (ZB) crystal structures, as well as strained WZ GaN/AlGaN quantum dots.

Group-velocity slowdown in quantum-dots and quantum-dot molecules [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2014
We investigate theoretically the slowdown of optical pulses due to quantum-coherence effects in InGaAs-based quantum dots and quantum dot molecules. Simple models for the electronic structure of quantum dots and, in particular, quantum-dot molecules are described and calibrated using numerical simulations.

Optical Gain of Vertically Coupled Cd0.6Zn0.4Te/ZnTe Quantum Dots

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
The optical modal gain of Cd0.6Zn0.4Te/ZnTe double quantum dots was measured using a variable stripe length method, where large and small quantum dots are separated with a ZnTe layer.

Quantum computation with quantum dots [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 1998
We propose a new implementation of a universal set of one- and two-qubit gates for quantum computation using the spin states of coupled single-electron quantum dots. Desired operations are effected by the gating of the tunneling barrier between neighboring dots.

Carbon Quantum Dots Derived from Different Carbon Sources for Antibacterial Applications

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2021
Nanoparticles possess unique features due to their small size and can be composed of different surface chemistries. Carbon quantum dots possess several unique physico-chemical and antibacterial activities.

Piezomagnetic Quantum Dots [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2008
We study the influence of deformations on magnetic ordering in quantum dots doped with magnetic impurities. The reduction of symmetry and the associated deformation from circular to elliptical quantum confinement lead to the formation of piezomagnetic quantum dots.

Investigation of the temperature and precursors concentration dependence of the formation of ZnSe quantum dots

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Physics and Functional Materials, 2022
Various variations of the synthesis of ZnSe quantum dots are investigated. The influence of temperature, the concentration of precursors and the time of synthesis of quantum dots was taken into account.

Thermal tolerance of perovskite quantum dots dependent on A-site cation and surface ligand

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
A detailed picture of temperature dependent behavior of CsxFA1-xPbI3 perovskite quantum dots across the composition range is constructed by performing in situ optical spectroscopic and structural measurements, supported by theoretical calculations that ...

Spectroelectrochemistry of Quantum Dots [PDF]

open access: yesIsrael Journal of Chemistry, 2019
AbstractSpectroelectrochemistry (SEC) is a set of techniques with many advantages in the study and characterization of materials. Although SEC has not yet been widely used to study quantum dots (QDs), the information extracted from SEC experiments about these nanostructures is very useful.

Large voltage-tunable spin valve based on a double quantum dot [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Applied 16, 014029 (2021), 2021
We study the spin-dependent transport properties of a spin valve based on a double quantum dot. Each quantum dot is assumed to be strongly coupled to its own ferromagnetic lead, while the coupling between the dots is relatively weak. The current flowing through the system is determined within the perturbation theory in the hopping between the dots ...
