Quantum Emitters in Flatland

2018 International Conference on Optical MEMS and Nanophotonics (OMN), 2018
In this work I will describe our recent efforts into studying quantum nanophotonics with hexagonal boron nitride. I will describe fabrication of quantum emitters and their characterization, as well as emerging applications of super-resolution imaging and integrated nanophotonics.

2D quantum emitters for Integrated Quantum Photonics

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2022
Integrated quantum photonic circuits is an emerging area that requires efficient coupling of quantum light sources to waveguides and optical resonators. So far, much effort is devoted to developing on-chip systems from 3D crystals such as diamond or gallium arsenide.

Quantum emitters in Flatland

2017 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC), 2017
We demonstrate first room temperature, and ultrabright single photon emission from a color center in two-dimensional multilayer hexagonal boron nitride. Density Functional Theory calculations indicate that vacancy-related centers are a likely source of the emission.

Quantum dot intersublevel light emitters

SPIE Proceedings, 2004
Self-organized quantum dots have been used with great success in quantum dot infrared photodetectors (QDIPs), wherein intersublevel transitions between confined electron states are utilized. Many attributes make self-organized quantum dots attractive for the realization of intersublevel infrared light sources for the mid- to far-infrared wavelength ...

Cavity-enhanced coherent quantum emitters

Quantum Information and Measurement (QIM) 2017, 2017
Semiconductor quantum dots embedded in micropillar cavities are a promising system for use in quantum photonic technologies. We demonstrate cavity-enhanced coherent scattering, on-chip superresolving phase measurements and photon sorting.

Inducing interactions between quantum emitters

Science, 2018
Quantum Optics The development of scalable quantum systems will require the ability to control the interactions between the individual quantum building blocks of the system. Evans et al. used a pair of silicon vacancy centers embedded in a diamond nanocavity to show that interactions between the quantum emitters can be mediated optically (see the ...

Quantum emitters, nanoantennas and plasmonics

2017 19th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2017
Plasmonics is a now well-established field finding numerous applications in pharmacology, biology, optoelectronics and metamaterials among others. For the sensitive detection of molecules or markers Surface Enhanced Spectroscopies, such as Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) and Surface Enhanced Fluorescence (SEF), are widespread and the most ...
