Do qubits dream of entangled sheep? Quantum measurement without classical output

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
Quantum mechanics is usually formulated with an implicit assumption that agents who can observe and interact with the world are external to it and have a classical memory.

Uncertainty Relations for Coarse–Grained Measurements: An Overview

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
Uncertainty relations involving incompatible observables are one of the cornerstones of quantum mechanics. Aside from their fundamental significance, they play an important role in practical applications, such as detection of quantum correlations and ...

Quantifying coherence of quantum measurements

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
In this work we investigate how to quantify the coherence of quantum measurements. First, we establish a resource theoretical framework to address the coherence of measurement and show that any statistical distance can be adopted to define a coherence ...

Emergence of Randomness and Arrow of Time in Quantum Walks

open access: yes, 2010
Quantum walks are powerful tools not only to construct the quantum speedup algorithms but also to describe specific models in physical processes. Furthermore, the discrete time quantum walk has been experimentally realized in various setups. We apply the

Coherent control of single photon states [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We define a class of multi-mode single photon states suitable for quantum information applications. We show how standard amplitude modulation techniques may be used to control the pulse shape of single photon states.Comment: Lecture given at the workshop

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Causality gets entangled

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
Understanding the role of causality in quantum theory is a growing research direction in quantum information and the foundations of quantum theory. One particular area is to understand generalizations of quantum theory where there is an indefinite causal

Spin network setting of topological quantum computation

open access: yes, 2004
The spin network simulator model represents a bridge between (generalised) circuit schemes for standard quantum computation and approaches based on notions from Topological Quantum Field Theories (TQFTs).

Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Deoxidation of Natively Oxide Layer of Copper Powders in a Fluidized Bed

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.
