Self‐Assembled Gallium Sulfide (GaS) Heterostructures Enabling Efficient Water Splitting and Selective Ammonia Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Gallium sulfide (GaS) forms self‐assembled heterostructures with its native oxide, exhibiting high performance in water splitting and ultrasensitive and selective ammonia detection. Surface defects and controlled oxidation enhance catalytic activity and sensing response.

Emergence of Local Magnetic Moment in Ternary TaWSe2 Single Crystal via Atomic Clustering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates local magnetic moments in ternary TaWSe2. Triangular Ta clusters with consistent shapes are identified through STM/S, and DFT calculations. These clusters induce localized strain, generating magnetic moments at the cluster corners. Magnetic measurements confirm a magnetic anomaly at ∼50 K.

Ferroelectricity in Single‐Crystalline BaTiO3 Nanodisks on Silicon

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectricity is studied in 20 nm thick single crystalline BaTiO3 nanodisks when scaling their diameter from ≈ 400 down to 100 nm. For 100 nm diameter, the vertical polarization component adopts three distinct patterns, and the lateral one shows a rotational invariance in‐plane, suggesting a combination of center‐type and flux‐closure domains.

Quantum information and information loss in General Relativity

open access: yes, 1995
When it comes to performing thought experiments with black holes, Einstein-Bohr like discussions have to be re-opened. For instance one can ask what happens to the quantum state of a black hole when the wave function of a single ingoing particle is replaced by an other one that is orthogonal to the first, while keeping the total energy and momentum ...
