Arbitrary Pulse Shaping using Accelerated Interfaces

open access: yesSmall Structures, EarlyView.
This work introduces a novel method for arbitrary pulse shaping using accelerated interfaces. By exploiting nonuniform Doppler shifts, the authors derive exact scattering relations and compute interface trajectories that transform input pulses into desired waveforms.

High magnification optical imaging systems for the characterization of soft X‐ray focii

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
We developed compact soft X‐ray imaging systems optimized for ultra‐high‐vacuum environments, achieving micrometer‐level spatial resolution with high collection efficiency. Characterization confirmed excellent sensitivity and linearity, with applications demonstrated in caustic measurements and grating interferometry for wavefront analysis. We present a

Can We Tell the Difference? A Turing Test on Human Perceptions of Innovation Ideas in Text Created by ChatGPT

open access: yesCreativity and Innovation Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), such as ChatGPT, is increasingly recognized for its potential to drive innovation, yet questions remain about its ability to mimic human innovation. Leveraging cognitive load theory (CLT), this study explores whether humans can reliably distinguish between incremental and radical innovation ideas in ...

The Social Truth of Schopenhauer's ‘Metaphysics of Pity’: Compassion and Critical Theory

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, EarlyView.
Abstract Taking Horkheimer and Adorno's account of pity in the Dialectic of Enlightenment as my starting point, I show that Schopenhauer's compassion‐based moral theory exemplifies key elements of this account. In particular, this moral theory will be shown to possess a social truth for Horkheimer and Adorno because it is an expression of a wrong ...
