Single-photon test of hyper-complex quantum theories using a metamaterial

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Hyper-complex quantum theories are generalizations of quantum mechanics where amplitudes are generalized complex numbers. Here the authors study phase commutation in a photonic experiment, reporting consistency with standard quantum mechanics and placing

The Postulates of Quantum Mechanics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
As a starting point in understanding Quantum Mechanics, the postulates of Quantum Mechanics are presented, and few of the main eigenvalue problems, as well.

The ORCA quantum chemistry program package.

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Physics, 2020
In this contribution to the special software-centered issue, the ORCA program package is described. We start with a short historical perspective of how the project began and go on to discuss its current feature set.

Supersymmetry in quantum mechanics [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 1997
An elementary introduction is given to the subject of Supersymmetry in Quantum Mechanics. We demonstrate with explicit examples that given a solvable problem in quantum mechanics with n bound states, one can construct new exactly solvable n Hamiltonians having n-1,n-2,...,0 bound states.

Ultra‐Effective Light‐Activated Antibacterial Activity via Carboxyl Functionalized Graphene Quantum Dots and Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Carboxyl‐functionalized graphene quantum dots (cGQDs) exhibit high singlet oxygen quantum yield due to strong spin–orbit coupling. cGQDs achieve minimum bactericidal concentration of only 0.4 µg mL−1 against S. aureus under low‐intensity illumination.

Reality, Indeterminacy, Probability, and Information in Quantum Theory

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
Following the view of several leading quantum-information theorists, this paper argues that quantum phenomena, including those exhibiting quantum correlations (one of their most enigmatic features), and quantum mechanics may be best understood in quantum-

Quantum Statistical Mechanics. III. Equilibrium Probability [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Given are a first principles derivation and formulation of the probabilistic concepts that underly equilibrium quantum statistical mechanics. The transition to non-equilibrium probability is traversed briefly.

Dissipative and quantum mechanics

open access: yesarXiv: Quantum Physics, 2009
Three existing interpretations of quantum mechanics, given by Heisenberg, Bohm and Madelung, are examined to describe dissipative quantum systems as well. It is found that the Madelung quantum hydrodynamics is the only correct approach. A new stochastic reinterpretation of the quantum mechanics is proposed, which represents the microscopic face of the ...

Ontology in Quantum Mechanics [PDF]

open access: yesQuanta, 2014
The issue of ontology in quantum mechanics, or equivalently the issue of the reality of the wave function is critically examined within standard quantum theory. It is argued that though no strict ontology is possible within quantum theory, ingenious measurement schemes may still make the notion of a \emph{FAPP Ontology} i.e ontology for all practical ...

Biointerfacing with AgBiS2 Quantum Dots for Pseudocapacitive Photostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated that AgBiS2 quantum dots exhibit unique photoinduced pseudocapacitive charge transfer properties, enabling efficient light‐to‐electrical energy conversion. These quantum dots facilitate enhanced light absorption and transduction when integrated with ZnO nanowires, which serve as an effective charge transport medium.
