On the Stochastic Mechanics Foundation of Quantum Mechanics

open access: yesUniverse, 2021
Among the famous formulations of quantum mechanics, the stochastic picture developed since the middle of the last century remains one of the less known ones.

Recurrence in Quantum Mechanics [PDF]

open access: yesInt. J. Theor. Phys. 41, 45-61 (2002), 2002
We first compare the mathematical structure of quantum and classical mechanics when both are formulated in a C*-algebraic framework. By using finite von Neumann algebras, a quantum mechanical analogue of Liouville's theorem is then proposed. We proceed to study Poincare recurrence in C*-algebras by mimicking the measure theoretic setting.

Quantum mechanics of a photon [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Physics, 2017
A first-quantized free photon is a complex massless vector field A=(Aμ) whose field strength satisfies Maxwell’s equations in vacuum. We construct the Hilbert space H of the photon by endowing the vector space of the fields A in the temporal-Coulomb gauge with a positive-definite and relativistically invariant inner product.

Probability Density in the Complex Plane

open access: yes, 2010
The correspondence principle asserts that quantum mechanics resembles classical mechanics in the high-quantum-number limit. In the past few years many papers have been published on the extension of both quantum mechanics and classical mechanics into the ...

A complete graphical calculus for Spekkens' toy bit theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
While quantum theory cannot be described by a local hidden variable model, it is nevertheless possible to construct such models that exhibit features commonly associated with quantum mechanics. These models are also used to explore the question of {\psi}-

Chaos and Quantum Mechanics [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2005
Abstract:The relationship between chaos and quantum mechanics has been somewhat uneasy—even stormy, in the minds of some people. However, much of the confusion may stem from inappropriate comparisons using formal analyses. In contrast, our starting point here is that a complete dynamical description requires a full understanding of the evolution ...

Semi-classical limit and minimum decoherence in the Conditional Probability Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics

open access: yes, 2008
The Conditional Probability Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics replaces the abstract notion of time used in standard Quantum Mechanics by the time that can be read off from a physical clock.

From Cbits to Qbits: Teaching computer scientists quantum mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A strategy is suggested for teaching mathematically literate students, with no background in physics, just enough quantum mechanics for them to understand and develop algorithms in quantum computation and quantum information theory.
