Abstract Chapter 24 provides a compact introduction to the topic of quantum metrology, focusing on Hamiltonian parameter estimation in the frequentist and in the Bayesian paradigms. We first discuss how estimates of non-directly measurable quantities such as phases are obtained from measurement statistics in the frequentist approach.

Metrology for Quantum Communication
2015 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps), 2015INRIM is making efforts to produce a metrology for quantum communication purposes, ranging from the establishment of measurement procedures for specific quantities related to QKD components, namely pseudo single-photon sources and detectors, to the implementation of novel QKD protocol based on paradigm other than non-commuting observables, to the ...

Multi-parameter quantum metrology [PDF]
The simultaneous quantum estimation of multiple parameters can provide a better precision than estimating them individually. This is an effect that is impossible classically. We review the rich background of multi-parameter quantum metrology, some of the main results in the field and its recent advances.

Quantum metrology and quantum correlations
2021Given a physical system to define a suitable measurement process on it constitutes one of the most crucial and challenging issues in physics. According to the particular theory under consideration, taking measurements has more or fewer subtleties but one ubiquitous concept for every physical theory is the uncertainty.
