Logical stochastic resonance with a coulomb-coupled quantum-dot rectifier

open access: yes, 2015
The authors gratefully acknowledge financial support from the European Union (FPVII, 2007-2013) under Grant Agreement No. 256959 NANOPOWER and Grant Agreement No. 318287 LANDAUER.Noise is mostly considered to be an adverse factor in electronics.

Low temperature transport and evidence for nuclear order in GaAs Quantum Wires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this thesis we focus on low temperature transport through cleaved edge overgrowth (CEO) quantum wires. This thesis is motivated by recent theoretical work on one hand that predicts the formation of a nuclear helimagnet in presence of a Luttinger ...

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Quantum Nanostructures by Droplet Epitaxy

open access: yes, 2009
Droplet epitaxy is an alternative growth technique for several quantum nanostructures. Indium droplets are distributed randomly on GaAs substrates at low temperatures (120 - 350oC).

Microwave noise detection of a quantum dot with stub impedance matching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Noise is defined as random fluctuations of a signal in time. The fundamental requirement for noise is some sort of randomness. Noise is well-known and infamous to every experimentalist - whether he is working in the field of electronics, optics ...

Valley Blockade Quantum Switching in Silicon Nanostructures [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2011
In analogy to the Coulomb and the Pauli spin blockade, based on the electrostatic repulsion and the Pauli exclusion principle respectively, the concept of valley blockade in Silicon nanostructures is explored. The valley parity operator is defined. Valley blockade is determined by the parity conservation of valley composition eigenvectors in quantum ...

Preparation of small silicon carbide quantum dots by wet chemical etching

open access: yes, 2013
Fabrication of nanosized silicon carbide (SiC) crystals is a crucial step in many biomedical applications. Here we report an effective fabrication method of SiC nanocrystals based on simple electroless wet chemical etching of crystalline cubic SiC ...

Spin transport of excitons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We report on observation of the spin transport of spatially indirect excitons in GaAs/AlGaAs coupled quantum wells (CQW). Exciton spin transport over substantial distances, up to several micrometers in the present work, is achieved due to orders of ...
