Polaron in quantum nanostructures
Surface Science, 2002Abstract The interest to blue–green lasers results in fabrication of nanostructures based on wide band gap ionic materials. The strong electron–phonon interaction with longitudinal optical phonons results in extra confinement of electrons within the nanostructure.

Nanostructures for quantum physics
Microelectronic Engineering, 1987Abstract We present the nanolithographic tool we have developed for the study of quantum effects in small structures. Results on weak localization in microstripes of doped GaAs and the effect of magnetic impurities on the Aharonov-Bohm effect are discussed. Preliminary results on optical properties are also presented.

A nanostructure quantum simulator
Science, 2018Quantum Criticality Phase transitions occurring at absolute zero temperature, or quantum phase transitions (QPTs), can be grouped into broad categories called universality classes. The classification is based on the properties of the transition rather than the microscopic details of the ...

Positioning of quantum dots on metallic nanostructures
Nanotechnology, 2010The capability to position individual emitters, such as quantum dots, near metallic nanostructures is highly desirable for constructing active optical devices that can manipulate light at the single photon level. The emergence of the field of plasmonics as a means to confine light now introduces a need for high precision and reliability in positioning ...

Image processing with quantum dot nanostructures
2002 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems. Proceedings (Cat. No.02CH37353), 2003Image processing capabilities of a quantum dot nanoelectronic device structure are investigated. The device characteristics are compared with the cellular neural network model and system equations are presented. Certain characteristics of the device are demonstrated via simulations of the resultant dynamical system. Image smoothing, edge detection, and

Quantum Mechanics for Nanostructures
2010The properties of new nanoscale materials, their fabrication and applications, as well as the operational principles of nanodevices and systems, are solely determined by quantum-mechanical laws and principles. This textbook introduces engineers to quantum mechanics and the world of nanostructures, enabling them to apply the theories to numerous ...
