Engineering Angular Dispersion via Hybrid Local–Nonlocal Metasurfaces

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 12, 25 June 2026.
A single‐layer hybrid local–nonlocal silicon metasurface is experimentally demonstrated as a polarization‐insensitive angular filter in transmission. By combining local nanopillar response, lattice‐mediated interactions near the Rayleigh anomaly, and diffraction‐assisted substrate coupling, the platform maintains high transmission within a ±15° $\pm ...

Hot Electron‐Informed Quantum Plasmonics in Nanoparticle‐on‐Mirror Nanocavities

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 12, 25 June 2026.
A computational model for ultrafast optical modulation of quantum phenomena at plasmonic metal interfaces is developed. Focusing on nanoparticle‐on‐mirror nanocavities, it describes temperature‐induced variations in electronic quantum behavior. This facilitates analysis of quantum plasmonics in non‐equilibrium systems, thereby expanding the realm of ...

Radical Nonlocality

open access: yes, 2012
This article points out a nonlocality of quantum mechanics that is significantly more radical than that implied by violations of Bell locality or Einstein locality.

Can the world be shown to be indeterministic after all? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This essay considers and evaluates recent results and arguments from classical chaotic systems theory and non-relativistic quantum mechanics that pertain to the question of whether our world is deterministic or indeterministic.

Magnetically Reconfigurable Mode Strong Coupling Toward Tunable Nanophotonic Sensing Devices

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 12, 25 June 2026.
A magnetically reconfigurable metasurface realizes tunable strong coupling between structural and magneto‐structurally induced q‐BIC resonances without changing device geometry. The resulting hybrid branches enable high‐sensitivity refractive‐index sensing with noncontact active control, large figure of merit, and multiple resonance observables ...

Sharing of tripartite nonlocality by multiple observers measuring sequentially at one side

open access: yes, 2019
Standard tripartite nonlocality and genuine tripartite nonlocality can be detected by the violations of Mermin inequality and Svetlichny inequality, respectively.

The Anatomy of Convection Under Lake Ice: Reynolds Stresses and Convective Energy Budget From In Situ Observations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract We present the first in situ observations of the full turbulence tensor of free convection under lake ice, obtained using an original method based on a set of two synchronized acoustic Doppler profilers to measure all six turbulent stress components.

Comprehensive Analysis of Aluminum‐Substituted Lithium Nano Ferrites Using Experimental and DFT Approaches

open access: yesInternational Journal of Quantum Chemistry, Volume 126, Issue 11, June 5, 2026.
The sol‐gel auto‐combustion‐fabricated Li0.5AlxFe2.5−xO4 nanoferrite with a single phase demonstrated soft magnetic characteristics. Significant changes in band gap and anisotropy were detected in the spin contributions of band structure and density of states, revealing lithium ferrites' potential for photovoltaic and spintronic applications.

Optical Pulling Force on Gold Mie Particles via Germanium and Aluminum‐Based Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This work demonstrates a novel approach to generate optical pulling force on gold Mie objects of two different shapes and studies the effects for different object sizes, incident angles, and the aluminum tetrahedra separation. Using rectangular germanium blocks combined with aluminum tetrahedra, optical pulling force (OPF) is achieved over a broad ...
