Observables in Relativistic Quantum Mechanics

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1964
The conventional statement of statistical determinism is that “the expectation values of all (Heisenberg)observables are determined by the expectation values of the observables at one time.” This requires that a full algebra of self-adjoint operators be in one-to-one correspondence with measurement procedures performed at one time.

Continual Observations in Quantum Mechanics

1985
In Quantum Mechanics, as well known, due to the occurrence of the so called interference terms, any statement has to refer to a definite experiment performed on an object, i.e. to the response of a specific apparatus. No unambiguous meaning can be attached to statements on the value of any quantity independently of an explicit measurement of it.

Intensive Observables in Quantum Theory

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1964
The notion of strictly intensive observables is introduced in a theory of local observables (such as that of R. Haag). If O1, O2 are two disjoint regions, then the value of a strictly intensive observable in O1 ∪ O2 is the sum of its values in O1 and O2. It is shown that energy-momentum can never be strictly intensive. This result is used to prove that
