Quantum-enabled electrochemical sensing of redox-driven nitrogen-vacancy charge state dynamics

open access: yesAcademia Quantum
Redox signaling, fundamental to cellular processes and implicated in disease, involves dynamic electron transfer events that are challenging to probe within complex biological environments.

Quantum neuromorphic approach to efficient sensing of gravity-induced entanglement

open access: yes, 2023
The detection of entanglement provides a definitive proof of quantumness. Its ascertainment might be challenging for hot or macroscopic objects, where entanglement is typically weak, but nevertheless present.

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Discrete-Modulated Coherent-State Quantum Key Distribution with Basis-Encoding

open access: yesResearch
Discrete-modulated coherent-state continuous-variable quantum key distribution (DMCS-CVQKD) is of great value for its simple implementation. However, the traditional DMCS-CVQKD scheme cannot tolerate the high channel excess noise and channel loss ...

Exploring Curvature Effects in Direct‐Written 3D Curved Hollow Magnetic Nanoshells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fabricated by a hybrid FEBID/CVD method, 3D PtC/Co3Fe core–shell heterostructures with engineered curvature and shell thickness exhibit complex reversal modes with axially symmetric N'eel‐type domain walls. XMCD‐PEEM combined with full‐scale micromagnetic simulations reveal how curvature and thickness govern the domain wall energy landscape and shape ...

Quantum cascade detector at 4.3µm wavelength in pixel array configuration

open access: yes, 2022
Paper 101112CMid-infrared detection with semiconductor based pixel arrays attracted constant research interest over the past years. Remaining challenges for intersubband detectors are high device performance at elevated temperatures in combination with ...

Polarizable Vanadium Dipoles Promote Water Dissociation on Vanadium‐Based Metal Organic Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polarization of unpaired V 3d electrons weakens the H─O bond to improve water dissociation by the dual Vδ+:O─H and Pλ−:H─O coupling hydrogen bonds formation and relaxation. P@V‐MOF electrocatalyst shows low overpotentials (94 mV in acid, 178 mV in neutral, and 77 mV in alkaline solutions) with excellent stability for effective overall water ...

Quantum remote sensing

open access: yes
We present an advanced quantum ghost imaging (QGI) setup that enables low-noise, three-dimensional imaging and ranging of distant objects. A key technical innovation is asynchronous detection by independent single photon detectors, which significantly ...

Submonolayer uniformity of type II InAs/GaInSb W-shaped quantum wells probed by full-wafer photoluminescence mapping in the mid-infrared spectral range [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The work has been supported by Project Widelase (No. 318798) of the 7-th Framework Program of the European Commission. Date of Acceptance: 06/10/2015The spatial uniformity of GaSb- and InAs substrate-based structures containing type II quantum wells was ...

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.
