Adaptively partitioned analog quantum simulation on near-term quantum computers: The nonclassical free-induction decay of NV centers in diamond

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2023
The idea of simulating quantum physics with controllable quantum devices had been proposed several decades ago. With the extensive development of quantum technology, large-scale simulation, such as the analog quantum simulation tailoring an artificial ...

Ab Initio Study on 3D Anisotropic Ferroelectric Switching Mechanism and Coercive Field in HfO2 and ZrO2

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a new switching mechanism in HfO2 and ZrO2, where the absence of a non‐polar layer along the a‐direction induces interaction between polar layers. Consequently, the switching barriers for growth are lower than those for nucleation in this direction, leading to a size‐dependent coercive field that matches experimental observations ...

Simulating quantum mechanics on a quantum computer [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 1998
Algorithms are described for efficiently simulating quantum mechanical systems on quantum computers. A class of algorithms for simulating the Schrodinger equation for interacting many-body systems are presented in some detail. These algorithms would make it possible to simulate nonrelativistic quantum systems on a quantum computer with an exponential ...

Quantum Emitters in Hexagonal Boron Nitride: Principles, Engineering and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum emitters in hexagonal boron nitride have emerged as a promising candidate for quantum information science. This review examines the fundamentals of these quantum emitters, including their level structures, defect engineering, and their possible chemical structures.

Local quasi hidden variable modelling and violations of Bell-type inequalities by a multipartite quantum state

open access: yes, 2012
We introduce for a general correlation scenario a new simulation model, a local quasi hidden variable (LqHV) model, where locality and the measure-theoretic structure inherent to an LHV model are preserved but positivity of a simulation measure is ...

64-qubit quantum circuit simulation [PDF]

open access: yesScience Bulletin, 2018
Classical simulations of quantum circuits are limited in both space and time when the qubit count is above 50, the realm where quantum supremacy reigns. However, recently, for the low depth circuit with more than 50 qubits, there are several methods of simulation proposed by teams at Google and IBM.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Impact of pressure on structural, mechanical, optoelectronic and thermoelectric properties of vacancy-ordered double perovskite K2SeCl6: A first principles study

open access: yesNext Materials
The structural, mechanical, electronic, optical, and thermoelectric properties of vacancy-ordered double perovskite K2SeCl6 are estimated through first-principle calculations under ambient conditions and hydrostatic pressures up to 80 GPa. The structural

Towards quantum simulating QCD [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics A, 2014
Quantum link models provide an alternative non-perturbative formulation of Abelian and non-Abelian lattice gauge theories. They are ideally suited for quantum simulation, for example, using ultracold atoms in an optical lattice. This holds the promise to address currently unsolvable problems, such as the real-time and high-density dynamics of strongly ...
