Robust all-electrical topological valley filtering using monolayer 2D-Xenes

open access: yesnpj 2D Materials and Applications, 2022
We propose a realizable device design for an all-electrical robust valley filter that utilizes spin protected topological interface states hosted on monolayer 2D-Xene materials with large intrinsic spin–orbit coupling.

Two‐Dimensional Materials as a Multiproperty Sensing Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Various sensing modalities enabled and/or enhanced by two‐dimensional (2D) materials are reviewed. The domains considered for sensing include: 1) optoelectronics, 2) quantum defects, 3) scanning probe microscopy, 4) nanomechanics, and 5) bio‐ and chemosensing.

Non-Abelian spin Hall insulator

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
Motivated by a recent experiment reporting the fractional quantum spin Hall effect in twisted MoTe_{2}, we investigate microscopically the prospects of realizing exotic topologically ordered states beyond conventional quantum Hall physics. We show that a

Streda-like formula in spin Hall effect

open access: yes, 2005
A generalized Streda formula is derived for the spin transport in spin-orbit coupled systems. As compared with the original Streda formula for charge transport, there is an extra contribution of the spin Hall conductance whenever the spin is not ...

Magnetic and Structural Response Tuned by Coexisting Mn Concentration‐Dependent Phases in MnBi2Te4 Thin Film Grown on GaAs(001) by Molecular Beam Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study explores structural and magnetic properties of one of the most recent topological quantum materials (MnBi2Te4). The Mn‐poor structure leads to stacking faults (quintuple layer ‐ QL of Bi2Te3 formation instead of a septuple layer ‐ SL of MnBi2Te4), resulting in a coexistence between weak antiferromagnetism and ferromagnetism.

Dirac fermions and topological phases in magnetic topological insulator films

open access: yesSciPost Physics
We develop a Dirac fermion theory for topological phases in magnetic topological insulator films. The theory is based on exact solutions of the energies and the wave functions for an effective model of the three-dimensional topological insulator (TI ...

Non‐Trivial Topological States in Spin‐Polarized 2D Electron Gas at EuO–KTO Interface with the Rashba Spin Texture

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, 2023
Oxide heterointerfaces are gaining popularity for a variety of applications because of a wide range of emergent quantum phenomena. The creation of a highly conducting and spin‐polarized 2D electron gas (2DEG) with anomalous Hall effect at the EuO–KTaO3 ...

The stability of the fractional quantum Hall effect in topological insulators

open access: yes, 2011
With the recent observation of graphene-like Landau levels at the surface of topological insulators, the possibility of fractional quantum Hall effect, which is a fundamental signature of strong correlations, has become of interest. Some experiments have
