Ferromagnetic-electrodes-induced Hall effect in topological Dirac semimetals
We propose an unconventional type of Hall effect in a topological Dirac semimetal with ferromagnetic electrodes. The topological Dirac semimetal itself has time-reversal symmetry, whereas attached ferromagnetic electrodes break it, causing the large Hall

1/4 is the new 1/2 when topology is intertwined with Mottness
In non-interacting systems, bands from non-trivial topology emerge strictly at half-filling and exhibit either the quantum anomalous Hall or spin Hall effects.

Time-reversal-breaking induced quantum spin Hall effect. [PDF]
AbstractWe show that quantum spin Hall (QSH) effect does not occur in a square lattice model due to cancellation of the intrinsic spin-orbit coupling coming from different hopping paths. However, we show that QSH effect can be induced by the presence of staggered magnetic fluxes alternating directions square by square.

Coherent backscattering in the topological Hall effect
The mutual interplay between electron transport and magnetism has attracted considerable attention in recent years, primarily motivated by strategies to manipulate magnetic degrees of freedom electrically, such as spin–orbit torques and domain wall ...

Dynamical competition between quantum Hall and quantum spin Hall effects [PDF]
In this paper we investigate the occurrence of quantum phase transitions in topological systems out of equi- librium. More specifically, we consider graphene with a sizable spin-orbit coupling, irradiated by circularly- polarized light. In the absence of light, the spin-orbit coupling drives a quantum spin Hall phase where edge currents with opposite ...

Quantum Renormalization of the Spin Hall Effect [PDF]
By quantum Monte Carlo simulation of a realistic multiorbital Anderson impurity model, we study the spin-orbit interaction (SOI) of an Fe impurity in Au host metal. We show, for the first time, that the SOI is strongly renormalized by the quantum spin fluctuation.

Nonequilibrium quantum states can be controlled via the driving field in periodically driven systems. Such control, which is called Floquet engineering, has opened various phenomena, such as the light-induced anomalous Hall effect.
