Quantum repeater is a key component of quantum network, and atomic memory is one of the important candidates for constructing quantum repeater. However, the atomic transition wavelength is not suitable for long-distance transmission in optical fiber.

Quantum families of maps and quantum semigroups on finite quantum spaces
Quantum families of maps between quantum spaces are defined and studied. We prove that quantum semigroup (and sometimes quantum group) structures arise naturally on such objects out of more fundamental properties.

Variational quantum state eigensolver
AbstractExtracting eigenvalues and eigenvectors of exponentially large matrices will be an important application of near-term quantum computers. The variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) treats the case when the matrix is a Hamiltonian. Here, we address the case when the matrix is a density matrix ρ.

This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.

Diffusion of quantum states generated by a classical random walk
We investigate a model that associates random walks in a finite-dimensional Euclidean coordinate space of a classical system with random quantum walks, i.e.

We study laser speckle reduction by light pipes, and we propose a new method to improve its efficiency. Proof-of-concept refractive optical elements (ROEs) with a staircase-like structure are introduced before a holographic diffuser to split a laser beam

Cluster-state quantum computation
This article is a short introduction to and review of the cluster-state model of quantum computation, in which coherent quantum information processing is accomplished via a sequence of single-qubit measurements applied to a fixed quantum state known as a

It is shown that generic N-party pure quantum states (with equidimensional subsystems) are uniquely determined by their reduced states of just over half the parties; in other words, all the information in almost all N-party pure states is in the set of reduced states of just over half the parties.

Deterministic Detection of Single Ion Implantation
Focused ion beam implantation with high detection efficiencies will enable the rapid and scalable fabrication of advanced spin‐based technologies such as qubits. This work presents the detection efficiencies of a wide range of ions implanted into solid‐state hosts, with efficiencies of >90% recorded for ion species and substrate combinations of ...

Measurement of Stokes-operator squeezing for continuous-variable orbital angular momentum
We demonstrate experimentally a measurement scheme for the Stokes operators for the continuous-variable squeezed states of orbital angular momentum (OAM).
