Vrsta Rhagoletis cingulata (Loew, 1862) [Diptera: Tephritidae] potječe iz Sjeverne Amerike, po čemu se naziva sjeverno-američka trešnjina muha (Bjeliš 2007). Obzirom na ekonomski značajnog domaćina višnju - Prunus cerasus, moguće je vrstu nazivati i višnjina muha, višnjeva muha ili američka višnjina muha.
