Two-flavor Color Superconducting Quark Stars May Not Exist

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Large uncertainties in the determinations of the equation of state of dense stellar matter allow for the intriguing possibility that the bulk quark matter in beta equilibrium might be the true ground state of the matter at zero pressure.

Impact of the Nuclear Equation of State on the Stability of Hybrid Neutron Stars

open access: yesUniverse, 2019
We construct a set of equations of state (EoS) of dense and hot matter with a 1st order phase transition from a hadronic system to a deconfined quark matter state. In this two-phase approach, hadrons are described using the relativistic mean field theory

Quark-meson coupling model with short-range quark-quark interactions

open access: yes, 2000
Short-range quark-quark correlations are introduced into the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model phenomenologically. We study the effect of the correlations on the structure of the nucleon in dense nuclear matter.

Superconducting quark matter

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1977
In asymptotically dense quark matter, colored glue forces cause an unusual variant of superconductivity. Instead of pairing, the quarks clump in groups of six. We investigate the gap equation in the weak coupling limit, and find the leading behavior of the energy gap and the critical temperature as functions of the renormalized coupling constant.

Quark matter — Facts and hopes [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics A, 1989
Abstract The aim is to study nuclear matter under extreme conditions. The hope is that conditions reached in present relativistic heavy ion collisions are adequate for the formation of a quark-gluon plasma where colour would no longer be confined to hadronic dimensions. The situation prior to the “Quark Matter '88” conference is reviewed.

Lepto-quark matter

open access: yesZeitschrift für Physik C Particles and Fields, 1990
In certain extensions of the standard model with additionalU(1) gauge symmetries, the anomalies between the quarks and leptons no longer cancel. It is shown that the anomalies can be cancelled by invoking representations oflepto-quark fermions. Lepto-quarks represent new fermionic matter that carries quark as well as lepton numbers. An extension of the

Unusual bound states of quark matter within the NJL model

open access: yes, 2000
Properties of dense quark matter in and out of chemical equilibrium are studied within the SU(3) Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. In addition to the 4-fermion scalar and vector terms the model includes also the 6-fermion flavour mixing interaction.

The Strange Prospects for Astrophysics

open access: yes, 2009
The implications of the formation of strange quark matter in neutron stars and in core-collapse supernovae is discussed with special emphasis on the possibility of having a strong first order QCD phase transition at high baryon densities.
