Chiral quark models are briefly sketched. Then the main question is addressed: Are chiral quark models consistent with the proton spin data? The proton spin fractions of the nonrelativistic quark model (NQM) are improved by chiral field theory. Such chiral models agree with the proton spin data only because the chiral quark‐Goldstone boson couplings ...

Abstract The quark-meson hybrid model, in which the quark cluster model for baryon- baryon interactions is supplemented with meson-exchange contributions, is briefly reviewed. Some arguments are given that such a hybrid picture provides us with a simple and efficient way of describing single- and two- baryon systems.

In this paper we report attempts to create simple nonrelativistic potential models of hadrons which have the following properties: hadrons are made of quarks; free quarks do not exist; free hadrons do exist. Models with these properties can be formulated, but none of those so far considered is free from the problem of long-range residual interactions ...

A generalized quark model that is based on a tower of quarks with all possible spins and parities is suggested. It can accommodate two 2++ resonances at about the same energy and still continue to have some important characteristics of the usual quark model.

Abstract This chapter presents the quark model of hadrons. It discusses the quark description of the quark antiquark systems of c and b quarks. It then describes the structure of the lightest mesons and baryons as bound states of u, d, and s quarks.

Our first observation was that our bootstrap condition implied, for the scattering of S U (3) q¯q-compounds, a degeneracy of the exchange degenerate q - f, ω - A2 trajectories. This conclusion holds for a large variety of dynamical models and remained to hold when S U (3) was broken.
