The phase diagram of dense quark matter with chiral imbalance is considered with the conditions of electric neutrality and $$\beta $$ β -equilibrium. It has been shown recently that chiral imbalance can generate charged pion condensation (PC) in dense ...

Binary Neutron-Star Mergers with a Crossover Transition to Quark Matter
This paper summarizes recent work on the possible gravitational-wave signal from binary neutron-star mergers in which there is a crossover transition to quark matter.

Warm asymmetric quark matter and proto-quark stars within the confined-isospin-density-dependent mass model [PDF]
We extend the confined-isospin-density-dependent mass (CIDDM) model to include temperature dependence of the equivalent mass for quarks. Within the CIDDM model, we study the equation of state (EOS) for $\beta$-equilibrium quark matter, quark symmetry energy, quark symmetry free energy, and the properties of quark stars at finite temperature.

Strange Quark Stars — A Review [PDF]
A pedagogical overview of strange quark matter and strange stars is presented. After a historical notation of the research and an introduction to quark matter, a major part is devoted to the physics and astrophysics of strange stars, with attention being paid to the possible ways by which neutron stars and strange stars can be distinguished in ...

Quark condensate and chiral symmetry restoration in neutron stars
Based on an equivparticle model, we investigate the in-medium quark condensate in neutron stars. Carrying out a Taylor expansion of the nuclear binding energy to the order of ρ3, we obtain a series of EOSs for neutron star matter, which are confronted ...

From an analogy with non-relativistic degenerate QED plasma we make an estimate of the coupling strength of QGP hypothesized to be present in compact star interiors. At densities ranging from 3ρ 0–10ρ 0 (normal nuclear density ρ 0=0.16 fm−3), quark matter is found to be strongly to intermediately coupled.

Generic Conditions for Stable Hybrid Stars
We study the mass-radius curve of hybrid stars, assuming a single first-order phase transition between nuclear and quark matter, with a sharp interface between the quark matter core and nuclear matter mantle.

Spin-down induced quark-hadron phase transition in cold isolated neutron stars [PDF]
We have studied the spin-down induced phase transition in cold, isolated neutron stars in this work. After birth, as the star slows down, its central density rises and crosses the critical density of phase transition, and a quark core is seeded inside the star.

STAR highlights on heavy ion physics
RHIC-STAR is a mid-rapidity collider experiment for studying high energy nuclear collisions. The main physics goals of STAR experiment are 1) studying the properties of the strongly coupled Quark Gluon Plasma 2) explore the QCD phase diagram structure ...

Strange Quark Matter in Stars: A General Overview [PDF]
The physics of strange quark matter in the core of compact stars and recent compact star data is reviewed. Emphasis is put on the possible existence of a third family of strange quark stars.
