Commuting by bicycle (vs. by car) is associated with improved aerobic power, microvascular function and diminished CO2 output in the atmosphere

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract The study investigated whether bicycle compared with car commuting, over relatively small distances, has positive effects on physiological variables, cardiometabolic fitness and CO2 output in the atmosphere. Bike Commuters (11 M, 15 F; age [median value (interquartile range)] 51.5 (38.3–56.8) years; body mass index [BMI] 22.8 (21.0–24.1) kg m ...

Cerebral oxygen extraction across different exercise intensities: Role of arterial PCO2${P_{{\mathrm{C}}{{\mathrm{O}}_2}}}$

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Stability in cerebral oxygen extraction fraction (OEF) is typically determined by alterations in cerebral blood flow (CBF). At rest, arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2${P_{{\mathrm{aC}}{{\mathrm{O}}_2}}}$) and OEF exhibit a strong inverse relationship owing to the powerful influence of PaCO2${P_{{\mathrm{aC}}{{\mathrm{O}}_2}}}$

On bound states of multiple t-quarks due to Higgs exchange

open access: yes, 2008
Froggatt, Nielsen et al suggested that the Higgs boson exchange between top quarks produces enough attraction to generate their multiple bound states. Furthermore they claimed that the system of 6 top and 6 anti-top quarks is bound so strongly that the ...

Quark-quark Double Scattering and Modified Quark Fragmentation Functions in Nuclei [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics A, 2007
Quark-quark double scattering in eA DIS and its contribution to quark and anti-quark fragmentation functions are investigated with the generalized factorization of the relevant twist-four processes in pQCD. It is shown that the resulting modifications to quark and anti-quark fragmentation functions are different.

Running economy and lower‐limb anthropometry in adult male Kenyan and Danish middle‐ and long‐distance runners and in untrained adolescents

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Kenyan athletes have dominated competitive middle‐ and long‐distance running for more than half a century, a phenomenon suggested to be attributable, at least in part, to superior running economy. Given that lower‐leg anthropometry is an important determinant of running economy, a key contributor to the athletic performance of Kenyan runners ...

Gluon field distribution between three infinitely spaced quarks

open access: yesPhysical Sciences and Technology, 2015
The gluon field distribution between three infinitely spaced quarks is obtained. The field distribution between every pair is approximated by an infinite flux tube filled with a color longitudinal electric field. The origin of the color electric field is

Hydrodynamization of charm quarks in heavy-ion collisions [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
Heavy quarks (i.e. charm and beauty) in heavy-ion collisions are initially produced out of kinetic equilibrium via hard partonic scattering processes.

Eight weeks of post‐exercise local heating does not improve cognition and plasma brain‐derived neurotrophic factor concentrations

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Exercise and heat stress have been reported to independently provide benefits to brain health. We tested the hypothesis that 8 weeks of post‐exercise local heating, passive local heating only, or exercise training only improves cognitive performance compared to a control group.
