Financial Market Misconduct: A Bibliometric Perspective

open access: yesEuropean Financial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article provides a bibliometric analysis of financial market misconduct (FMM) research. It maps the intellectual structure of FMM studies, visualizes the field's scientific literature, and uncovers its intellectual backbone, emergent ‘hot topics’, key journals, and influential authors.

Labor Market Impact on Homelessness: Evidence from Canadian Administrative Data on Shelter Usage [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The overwhelming majority of homeless individuals are jobless, despite many expressing a willingness to work. While this strong individual-level link between homelessness and unemployment is well-documented, the broader impact of labor market dynamics on homelessness remains largely unexplored.

MoMIT: Porting a JavaScript Interpreter on a Quarter Coin [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of physical, heterogeneous, connected devices providing services through private networks and the Internet. It connects a range of new devices to the Internet so they can communicate with Web servers and other devices around the world.

Efficient fine-tuning of 37-level GraphCast with the Canadian global deterministic analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
This work describes a process for efficiently fine-tuning the GraphCast data-driven forecast model to simulate another analysis system, here the Global Deterministic Prediction System (GDPS) of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Using two years of training data (July 2019 -- December 2021) and 37 GPU-days of computation to tune the 37-level,

Canonical Coin Systems for Change-Making Problems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
The Change-Making Problem is to represent a given value with the fewest coins under a given coin system. As a variation of the knapsack problem, it is known to be NP-hard. Nevertheless, in most real money systems, the greedy algorithm yields optimal solutions. In this paper, we study what type of coin systems that guarantee the optimality of the greedy

Coins of Three Different Weights [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We discuss several coin-weighing problems in which coins are known to be of three different weights and only a balance scale can be used. We start with the task of sorting coins when the pans of the scale can fit only one coin. We prove that the optimal number of weighings for $n$ coins is $\lceil 3n/2\rceil -2$.

Gendering Diplomatic Careers. Distance and Time in International Assignment Practices Among 600 French Diplomats

open access: yesGender, Work &Organization, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Over the past few decades, diplomatic organizations have recruited increasing numbers of women as career diplomats. However, research in the fields of both expatriation and diplomacy emphasizes that transnational careers have been historically monopolized by men, that most “trailing spouses” are still women, and that men's transnational ...

Multiply Warped Products with a Quarter-symmetric Connection [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
In this paper, we study the Einstein warped products and multiply warped products with a quarter-symmetric connection. We also study warped products and multiply warped products with a quarter-symmetric connection with constant scalar curvature. Then apply our results to generalized Robertson-Walker spacetimes with a quarter-symmetric connection and ...

The efficacy of market timing and value creation

open access: yesJournal of Financial Research, EarlyView.
Abstract In this article, I use a total timing measure that differentiates between cash‐flow timing and discount‐rate timing to assess value creation among actively managed US equity mutual funds. My findings indicate that some funds exhibit cash‐flow timing skills.
