Quarter acoustic period pulse compression using stimulated Brillouin scattering in PF-5060

open access: goldOptics Express, 2022
The pulse duration of the near quarter-acoustic period (τa) is demonstrated in transient stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) pulse compression by the suppressing Stokes trailing-edge broadening at high intensities. A theoretical analysis reveals that the difficulty in attaining the transient compression limit is caused by the broadening of the Stokes

Fourier transforming a trapped Bose–Einstein condensate by waiting a quarter of the trap period: simulation and applications [PDF]

open access: goldNew Journal of Physics, 2006
We investigate the property of isotropic harmonic traps to Fourier transform a weakly interacting Bose–Einstein condensate (BEC) every quarter of a trap period. We solve the Gross–Pitaevskii equation numerically to investigate the time evolution of interacting BECs in the context of the Fourier transform, and we suggest potential applications.

Overcoming therapeutic inertia in primary care: a multisite quality initiative to increase guideline-based prescribing for patients with diabetes [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Open Quality
Background Therapeutic inertia (TI), the failure to intensify or de-intensify treatment when appropriate, is a contributor to poor guideline adherence in diabetes treatment, including the suboptimal use of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT ...

Living Outside the Wall: the Quarter of Wattle-and-daub Houses in Old Dongola of the Funj Period [PDF]

open access: hybridJournal of African Archaeology, 2020
Abstract Excavations at Old Dongola in 2018/2019 led to the discovery of a quarter of wattle-and-daub houses located outside the town walls. The houses, dated to the 17th − 18th century, are arranged in compounds and visibly differ from other dwellings.
