Quartz Tuning Fork in Helium

Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 2007
Use of a quartz tuning fork for precise measurements of density has been studied in normal 3He liquid and in 4He liquid and vapor, spanning a reasonably wide range of fluid densities. It is evident that the compressibility of the fluid must be accounted for in order to properly interpret the resonator response.

Quartz tuning fork based microwave impedance microscopy

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2016
Microwave impedance microscopy (MIM), a near-field microwave scanning probe technique, has become a powerful tool to characterize local electrical responses in solid state samples. We present the design of a new type of MIM sensor based on quartz tuning fork and electrochemically etched thin metal wires. Due to a higher aspect ratio tip and integration

Quartz-Crystal Tuning-Fork Tactile Sensor

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1999
Sensing behavior of a quartz-crystal tuning-fork tactile sensor was tested using several types of materials (metals and slide glass) and several sheets of sandpaper of different roughnesses fixed on copper or aluminum plates with acrylic resin paste.

Double-ended Tuning Fork Quartz Accelerometer

40th Annual Symposium on Frequency Control, 1986
Quartz accelerometers with frequency output have been designed and built using etched double-ended tuning fork technology. These devices consist of two tuning forks connected in a cantilever beam configuration with beryllium-copper spacers which serves as a proof mass and inboard spacer.

Trace Gas Detection System Based on Photoacoustic and Photothermal Spectroscopy Using Ring Fiber Laser and Quartz Tuning Fork

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2023
In this article, a dual-spectroscopy gas sensing system based on a ring cavity laser and quartz tuning fork (QTF) is designed. A 15 m erbium-doped fiber (EDF) with 1500 ppm doping concentration is used as a gain medium, and a piezoelectric transducer ...

Sensitive Light-Induced Thermoelastic Spectroscopy-Based Oxygen Sensor With a Perovskite-Modified Quartz Tuning Fork

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2023
The concentration of oxygen (O2) plays a crucial role in the metabolic respiration, maturation, and ripening processes of fruits. In this study, we propose a novel method for gas detection called light-induced thermoelastic spectroscopy (LITES), which ...

Quartz crystal tuning fork photoacoustic point sensing

Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 2010
Abstract Achieving chemical specificity in trace detection of small molecules is a challenge. Here we describe a highly selective method for detection of trace chemicals using photoacoustic spectroscopy of adsorbed molecules on a quartz crystal tuning fork.
