Air and gas damping of quartz tuning forks
Sensors and Actuators, 1983Abstract The effects of air and gas pressure on the vibration of miniature quartz tuning forks are investigated. Beside damping, which decrease the Q factor of the resonator, the resonant frequency appears to vary quite linearly with the gas pressure. Quartz tuning fork as photodetector for benzene monitoring beyond 12 μm
European Conferences on Biomedical Optics 2025A novel sensor for detecting BTEX compounds was developed using light-induced thermoelastic absorption spectroscopy (LITES). The system employed an InAs/AlSb quantum cascade laser (14.85 µm) and a custom quartz tuning fork photodetector, with benzene selected as case study.
