The Sloan Digital Sky Survey Quasar Lens Search. V. Final Catalog from the Seventh Data Release

open access: yes, 2012
We present the final statistical sample of lensed quasars from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Quasar Lens Search (SQLS). The well-defined statistical lens sample consists of 26 lensed quasars brighter than i=19.1 and in the redshift range of 0 ...

Quasar candidate selection and photometric redshift estimation based on SDSS and UKIDSS data

open access: yes, 2010
We present a sample of 8498 quasars with both SDSS $ugriz$ optical and UKIDSS $YJHK$ near-IR photometric data. With this sample, we obtain the median colour-z relations based on 7400 quasars with magnitude uncertainties less than 0.1mag in all bands.

Luminous and Obscured Quasars and Their Host Galaxies

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2018
The most heavily-obscured, luminous quasars might represent a specific phase of the evolution of the actively accreting supermassive black holes and their host galaxies, possibly related to mergers.

Environments around Quasars at z ∼ 3 Revealed by Wide-field Imaging with Subaru HSC and CFHT

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We examine the local density environments around 67 quasars at z ∼ 3 by combining the imaging data of Hyper Suprime-Cam Subaru Strategic Program and Canada–France–Hawaii Telescope Large Area U -band Deep Survey over about 20 deg ^2 .

Statistical Detection of the He ii Transverse Proximity Effect: Evidence for Sustained Quasar Activity for >25 Million Years

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2017
The reionization of helium at z ~ 3 is the final phase transition of the intergalactic medium and supposed to be driven purely by quasars. The He ii transverse proximity effect—enhanced He ii transmission in a background sightline caused by the ionizing ...

The Evolution of Quasars at High Redshift and Their Connection with Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1998
I review recent observations on the evolution of quasars, describe new surveys for quasars at z > 5 and for quasars at z > 3.3 down to luminosities corresponding to L* galaxies, and note the possible connection between the evolution of the star formation rate in young galaxies and the evolution of quasars.
