Representation Dimension and Quasi-hereditary Algebras

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematics, 2002
The representation dimension of an Artin algebra \(A\) has been defined by \textit{M. Auslander} [Representation dimension of Artin algebras. With the assistance of Bernice Auslander. (Queen Mary College Mathematics Notes. London: Queen Mary College) (1971; Zbl 0331.16026)] in several equivalent ways; for example, the representation dimension of \(A ...

Strong Exact Borel Subalgebras of Quasi-Hereditary Algebras

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2000
Exact and strong Borel subalgebras of quasi-hereditary algebras were introduced by the reviewer [see Math. Z. 220, No. 3, 399-426 (1995; Zbl 0841.16013)] to mimick the situation for Lie algebras. Existence is granted for blocks of category \(\mathcal O\) and in a few other situations, but not in general. A natural problem is uniqueness.

From continuous to interruptible distillation: Flexible electric heating column architecture with fast start‐up

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Electrification of distillation offers a promising route to reducing scope‐1 emissions from one of the chemical industry's most energy‐intensive unit operations. However, conventional adiabatic columns are dynamically inflexible: Long, energy‐intensive start‐ups make shutdown and restart impractical under variable electricity prices and ...

Asymptotic properties of cross‐classified sampling designs

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract We investigate the family of cross‐classified sampling designs across an arbitrary number of dimensions. We introduce a variance decomposition that enables the derivation of general asymptotic properties for these designs and the development of straightforward and asymptotically unbiased variance estimators.

Photometric Diagnostic of the Sheath Dynamics and Electron Density Trends in Single and Dual Frequency CCRF Argon Plasmas

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A methodological study is presented on a noninvasive photometric diagnostic for determining trends in electron density and sheath dynamics in single (1f) and a dual (2f) radio frequency capacitively coupled (CCRF) argon plasmas. The 1f discharges are operated at 13.56 and 27.12 MHz, respectively, while the 2f discharge is driven by both ...

Idempotent subquotients of symmetric quasi-hereditary algebras

open access: yesIllinois Journal of Mathematics, 2009
In 1989 \textit{V. Dlab} and \textit{C. M. Ringel} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 107, No. 1, 1-5 (1989; Zbl 0681.16015)] showed that over an algebraically closed field every finite-dimensional algebra can be realized as centralizer of some quasi-hereditary algebra. In the present paper this construction is generalized.

The Rise of Human–Computer Integration in Marketing: A Theory Synthesis

open access: yesPsychology &Marketing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Human–computer integration (HCInt) technologies, which merge human bodily, cognitive, and sensory functions with computational processes, are reshaping the foundations of consumer experience. Unlike traditional human–computer interaction, HCInt entails adaptive and reciprocal coupling through AI‐driven augmentation, wearables, muscle–computer ...

Integral and graded quasi-hereditary algebras, I

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 1990
The paper extends the notion of a quasi-hereditary algebra from finite dimensional algebras to finitely generated algebras over a commutative Noetherian ring. Moreover, the authors begin the study of graded quasi- hereditary algebras. Let k be a commutative Noetherian ring and let A be a k-algebra, which is a finitely generated projective k-module.

Sliding Mode Control in Aerospace Applications: A Survey

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sliding mode control (SMC) enjoys robustness to matched and unmatched (in the case of minimum phase input‐output dynamics) bounded perturbations, and finite time convergence. Second‐order and higher‐order sliding mode control systems (2‐SMC/HOSMC) retain all the advantages of sliding mode control, but in addition can be applied to systems of ...
