A quasi-isodynamic configuration with good confinement of fast ions at low plasma β
A new quasi-isodynamic (QI) stellarator configuration optimized for the confinement of energetic ions at low plasma β is obtained. The numerical optimization is carried out using the STELLOPT suite of codes.

The Magnetic Beneficiation of Coal
The magnetic demineralization of coal can produce a fuel containing lower leveIs of sulphur and ash forming minerals. The ability of the magnetic separation technique to process material over a wide range of particle sizes (I‐1000 µm) and to operate on either liquid or gaseous feed enables a number of possible coal processing applications.

Combination of quasi-isodynamic and piecewise omnigenous magnetic fields
Due to their simultaneous optimization for radial and parallel neoclassical transport, quasi-isodynamic (QI) fields have been the main choice of stellarator magnetic configuration for most fusion reactor candidates in recent years.
