A modified BFGS formula maintaining positive definiteness with Armijo-Goldstein steplengths [PDF]
The line search subproblem in unconstrained optimization is concerned with finding an acceptable steplength satisfying certain standard conditions. The conditions proposed in the early work of Armijo and Goldstein are sometimes replaced by those ...

We present a new diagonal quasi-Newton update with an improved diagonal Jacobian approximation for solving large-scale systems of nonlinear equations. In this approach, the Jacobian approximation is derived based on the quasi-Cauchy condition.

A codesign multiobjective optimization framework was developed to enhance the morphology and controller of a snake‐like robot driven by artificial muscles. It improved planar locomotion, agility, and power efficiency. The approach optimized link geometry and controller gains, revealing that shorter muscles near joints and longer linkages maximize ...

Numerical Modeling of Photothermal Self‐Excited Composite Oscillators
We present a numerical framework for simulating photothermal self‐excited oscillations. The driving mechanism is elucidated by highlighting the roles of inertia and overshoot, as well as the phase lag between the thermal moment and the oscillation angle, which together construct the feedback loop between the system state and the environmental stimulus.

A quasi‐periodic Dart‐Kite (QDK) metastructure with a golden‐ratio‐constrained strong–weak bond network simultaneously enhances strength, toughness, and damage tolerance. Its distributed topology enables predictable, tailorable crack paths for precise fracture control and stable mechanics, demonstrating a high‐performance, controllable architecture ...

ROBUST QUASI-NEWTON EQUATIONS IN QUASI-NEWTON METHOD FOR SOLVING UNCONSTRAINED OPTIMIZATION PROBLEMS
Quasi-Newton methods are among the most widely used and effective general-purpose algorithms for unconstrained optimization. These methods traditionally rely on the quasi-Newton equation, which serves as the foundation for updating approximations of the

The numerical solution of optimal control problems by direct collocation is a widely used approach. Quasi-Newton approximations of the Hessian of the Lagrangian of the resulting nonlinear program are also common practice.

A weakly solvating fluorinated cosolvent (1200ET) enables precise solvation‐power regulation in Li–S batteries, decoupling interfacial stabilization from sulfur redox kinetics. This approach suppresses polysulfide dissolution while preserving reaction kinetics, leading to a stable Li metal interface and high‐energy multilayer pouch cells, revealing a ...
