Quasi‐Static Tests of Scaled Model Building

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1989
The testing of a 0.305 scale model of a six‐story prototype steel building under a program of controlled cycle displacements is described. A “wiffle tree” system was used to produce a lateral load pattern closely resembling the pattern specified by the Uniform Building Code (UBC).

5. Considerations for the Use of Quasi‐Static Testing

Earthquake Spectra, 1996
While advances in servo‐hydraulic technology and computer simulation are making real‐time pseudo‐dynamic and shake table testing more feasible for research in earthquake engineering, quasi‐static testing will remain the most prevalent form of testing for the foreseeable future.

Quasi-static testing of composite masonry construction

Building Research & Information, 1999
This paper introduces research into the effects of earthquakes on composite masonry and concrete buildings in China. The quasistatic test is used on a nine-storey composite masonry quarter-scale model. The structure is analysed under loads to assess structural ductility, power absorption ratio, damping, etc.

Test rig for induction motor quasi-static electromechanical characteristic determination

IECON 2014 - 40th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2014
The paper presents a test rig for the determination of the quasi-static electromechanical characteristics of induction motors supplied with sinusoidal voltages. The paper describes in detail the test rig, the used instrumentation, and the characterization tests that can be performed on it.

Quasi-Static and Dynamic Tests of a Smart Hybrid Brace

Structures Congress 2012, 2012
This paper presents results from two experimental programs of quasi-static testing and dynamic testing which investigate the re-centering and energy-dissipating behavior of a one-tenth-scale smart hybrid brace. Smart hybrid braces, that tend to prevent a soft-story mechanism, restore the original configuration and can be rapidly rehabilitated, are ...

Static and Quasi-Static Test Procedures of Piston Engines

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2002
<div class="htmlview paragraph">This work compares procedures specified on standard ISO-1585 applicable to piston engine bench dynamometer, with two quasi-static procedures. The first one is based on maintain constant the engine rotation and the load during 1 minute and then modified the work conditions. This procedure results in a step test when

An Investigation of Row-Bar Level Quasi-Static Test for Perpendicular Recording

IEICE Transactions on Electronics, 2007
Popcorn noise is a large transient noise spike at the reader shortly after writing due to unstable domains in writer yoke. The popcorn noise was found to dependent on write frequency. It is firstly reported that the popcorn noise occurred by the write instability of shielded-single-pole head (SSPH) can be captured in row-bar level QST which is ...

Compression Tests of Polycarbonate under Quasi-Static and Dynamic Loading

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Strain rate response of polycarbonate was investigated under uniaxial compression at different rates of strain ranging from 0.0001/sec to about 8200/sec and different temperature ranging from 145k to about 423k. A split Hopkinson pressure bar was used to determine the dynamic compressive responses.

Drive-level instabilities correlated to quasi-static field testing

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2001
We investigated the relationship between in-drive servo error counts and drive-level quasistatic test (QST) to determine the effectiveness of using QST to screen heads which may be unstable immediately following a write operation in the drive. Waveforms, which generated servo errors, were also captured.

Quasi-Static and Dynamic Large Strain Shear-Tension Testing

Experimental Mechanics, 2017
A new shear specimen is designed, evaluated and tested quasi-statically and dynamically. The specimen consists of a long cylinder having a horizontal gauge section created by two diametrically opposed semi-circular slots machined parallel to the longitudinal axis.
