Impact of AMI Data Time Granularity on Quasi-Static Time-Series Load Flow Simulation

2020 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition (T&D), 2020
AMI data allows highly detailed representation of distribution system loads in quasi-static time-series load flow (QSTS) simulations but requires managing large data volumes. Reducing the time granularity of AMI data reduces the data volume but can harm the detail and accuracy of QSTS simulations.

Forecasting PV Curtailments in Large Electricity Distribution Networks Using Quasi-Static Time Series Simulations

2022 32nd Australasian Universities Power Engineering Conference (AUPEC), 2022
Recent expansion of renewables within the electricity distribution network is a well-recognized phenomenon. A significant proportion of these renewables are household roof-top photo-voltaic (PV) systems integrated into the low-voltage (LV) distribution network.

Quasi-Static Time-Series PV Hosting Capacity Methodology and Metrics

2019 IEEE Power & Energy Society Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference (ISGT), 2019
Distributed photovoltaic systems (DPV) can cause adverse grid impacts, including voltage or thermal violations. The installed capacity at which violations first occur and above which would require system upgrades is called the hosting capacity.

Temporal decompostion of a distribution system Quasi-Static time-series simulation

2017 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2017
This paper documents the first phase of an investigation into reducing runtimes of complex OpenDSS models through parallelization. As the method seems promising, future work will quantify — and further mitigate — errors arising from this process. In this initial report, we demonstrate how, through the use of temporal decomposition, the run times of a ...

Reconfiguration of Distribution Network for Transformer Life Extension Using Quasi-static Time-Series Analysis

Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering, 2019
The reduction in capex (capital expenditures) and opex (operating expenses) for distribution utilities is very important under market conditions. Utilities want to extend the life of existing equipment such as circuit breakers and transformers for deferring investment.

Quasi-Static Time-Series Analysis of Congested Transmission Networks with Intermittent Wind Power Penetration

International Review of Electrical Engineering (IREE), 2017
In-line with smart-grid developments, the need for performing lengthy time domain simulations with intermittent power generation as well as the associated control is crucial. Due to complexity and integrity of practical power systems, it is not practical to analyze them using exact time domain models. In this paper, a new method using quasi-static time-

Quasi-static time-series test feeder for PV integration analysis on distribution systems

2012 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting, 2012
This paper presents a quasi-static time-series test feeder based on the well-known 34 node test feeder [1]. This test feeder is useful for the evaluation and quantification the distribution system impacts of distributed PV integrations. The load profiles and solar resource profiles used are both publically available.
