Asymptotic properties of cross‐classified sampling designs

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract We investigate the family of cross‐classified sampling designs across an arbitrary number of dimensions. We introduce a variance decomposition that enables the derivation of general asymptotic properties for these designs and the development of straightforward and asymptotically unbiased variance estimators.

How Changing Narratives About the Future Shape Policymaking for the Long Term

open access: yesEuropean Policy Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT How can we explain decisions by governments to engage in policy investments—accepting short‐term costs in return for anticipated gains in the longer term—after previously sustaining the status quo? Our article examines the role of narratives in changing expectations about the future as a key driver of intertemporal policymaking. In light of an

Solución analítica de problemas de cuasi-equilibrio en una variable

open access: yesSelecciones Matemáticas, 2020
The quasi-equilibrium problem (QEP) is a generalization of the classic equilibrium problem (EP) where the constraint set does depend on the reference point.

Do Institutions Make Street‐Level Bureaucrats Prosocial? Agent‐Based Evidence Shows That New Public Management Does Not

open access: yesEuropean Policy Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Does street‐level bureaucrats' (SLBs) willingness to sacrifice their own self‐interests to meet the needs of their clients vary depending on their contexts? To date, it has been very challenging to empirically examine how SLBs who have different orientations toward social values might act in different institutional and administrative contexts.

Disturbance‐Resilient Voltage/Power‐Quality Management for Islanded Inverters Using Self‐Tuning Type‐3 Fuzzy Controller

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
An adaptive fuzzy controller using an interval type‐3 fuzzy logic system replaces the SMC switching term to mitigate chattering while preserving global stability for islanded inverters. Simulations show lower THD, greater robustness to disturbances and parameter variations, and improved voltage‐tracking accuracy, with applicability to other uncertain ...

On the Generalized Nonlinear Variational Inequalities and Quasi-Variational Inequalities

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1996
The paper deals with two kinds of variational inequality problems: 1. (Generalized nonlinear variational inequality problem -- GNVI\((T,g,b,X)\)) Find \(\widehat x\in X\) and \(\widehat w\in T\widehat x\) such that \[ \text{Re}\langle\widehat w,g(\widehat x) -g(y)\rangle+ b(\widehat x,\widehat x)- b(\widehat x,y)\geq 0\;\forall y\in X; \] 2 ...

Health Preferences and Sorting in the City

open access: yesHealth Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT There are large health inequalities between neighborhoods in many cities of the world. This paper studies individuals' sorting based on health amenities and exposes an important connection between health preferences and the housing market. I estimate a neighborhood choice model using geolocated data from a health survey in New York City and ...

Dual variational inequality and applications to asymmetric traffic equilibrium problem with capacity constrains

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 1994
This paper deals with a general duality theory developed by means of separation techniquesand shows that particular kinds of Dual Variational Inequalities can be obtained as special cases.

ESG Performance and Credit Risk: Evidence From Chinese Manufacturing Companies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the effect of corporate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance on credit risk using a sample of manufacturing firms listed on China's Shanghai and Shenzhen A‐share markets from 2009 to 2021. Employing fixed effects, the generalised method of moments, and instrumental variable models, we find that ...
