An Improved Structural Analysis Method for Isolator with Quasi-Zero-Stiffness Characteristic

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
A typical quasi-zero-stiffness (QZS) vibration isolator consisting of a vertical spring and two oblique springs has been widely researched on its static and dynamic characteristics.

Mechanically Assisted Magnetic Actuation in Ceramic‐Based Microscrolls for Fast and Durable Soft Robotic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ceramic‐based V2O5/Fe3O4 hybrid films are shaped into butterfly‐proboscis‐inspired microscroll actuators. Magnetic triggering initiates unrolling, while geometry‐programmed elastic strain energy drives rapid recoil, enabling fast, reversible, durable, and load‐bearing actuation under near‐field magnetic stimulation.

Underwater Vibro-Acoustic Coupling Characteristics of a Simply Supported Plate Coupled with a Quasi-Zero Stiffness Vibration Isolation

open access: yes水下无人系统学报
Structural vibration noise from the power compartment critically impairs the acoustic stealth performance of undersea vehicles. Utilizing vibration isolation technology to attenuate or isolate vibration transmission is an effective approach to reduce ...

Elastomeric 3D‐Printed Microenvironments Enable Nanonewton Force Measurements in Healthy and Diseased Human Pluripotent Stem Cell‐Derived Neuroepithelial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We present elastomeric three‐dimensional (3D) microstructures fabricated via two‐photon polymerization (2PP) and post‐processed through wet etching, for quantifying nanonewton (nN)‐scale forces applied by healthy and diseased neural cells. The mechanically characterized free‐standing beam architectures enable measurement of traction forces of ...

A Quasi-Zero Stiffness-Based Low-Frequency Vibration Isolation Platform: Experimental Investigation

open access: yesMachines
As is well known, vibration, especially ultra-low-frequency vibration, is harmful to machinery’s accuracy and service life and even human health. This paper experimentally validates vibration isolation technology for low-frequency applications based on ...

A nonlinear galloping energy harvester with quasi-zero stiffness

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures
One of the design requirements to enhance the performance of a galloping piezoelectric energy harvester (GPEH) is to have a low natural frequency. A nonlinear system with a zero local linearised stiffness about the working point, known as a Quasi-Zero-Stiffness (QZS) can be employed to achieve ultra-low natural frequency.

Two‐Way Shape Memory Polymer Composite Gripper for Adaptive Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A two‐way shape memory polymer (SMP) composite is developed with intrinsic shape‐changing capability driven solely by temperature, eliminating external actuation loads. Embedding the SMP in a low‐stiffness elastomeric matrix enabled reversible transformations during heating and cooling cycles.

Hierarchical Multi‐Material Architectures With Gradient Design for Dynamic‐Range Flexible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

Characteristic analysis of a quasi-zero-stiffness vibration isolator

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
The frequency range over which a linear passive vibration isolator is effective, is often limited by the stiffness required to support a static load. And this can be improved upon by employing nonlinear negative stiffness elements to get a low dynamic stiffness.
