Evidence for Itinerant Ferromagnetic Flat Bands Producing Large Transverse Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Itinerant ferromagnetic flat bands are demonstrated in GdCo5 with a high Curie temperature of 940K, a stacked honeycomb–kagome lattice, through angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy and magneto‐thermoelectric measurements. These topological flat bands generate large Berry curvaturte, producing gigantic anomalous Nernst effect with record‐high ...

A Survey of Interlayer Interaction Models for Graphene and Other 2D Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Van der Waals interactions arising from electronic polarization at atomically close interfaces generate corrugated interlayer energy landscapes that govern normal and tangential tractions. This review presents an overview of quantum, atomistic, analytical, and continuum modeling approaches, highlighting their roles across length scales in capturing ...

Facet‐Specific PbS Quantum Dot Passivation Using Halide Perovskites for SWIR Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
PbS quantum dots (QDs) are emerging as powerful short‐wave infrared photodetectors, yet the passivation mechanism of large QDs by perovskites ‐ critical for their stability ‐ remains unexplained. Here, we unveil the ligand structure of CH3NH3PbI3 (MAPI)‐passivated 4‐nm PbS QDs using FTIR, XPS, SEM, NMR, and DFT.

Nonlinear vibration isolators with asymmetric stiffness

open access: yes, 2012
A vibration source is commonly coupled to a receiving structure by a vibration isolator. A key trade-off in the choice of vibration isolator is the requirement for a wide frequency range of isolation without excessive static deflection.

A New Higher-Order Finite Element Model for Free Vibration and Buckling of Functionally Graded Sandwich Beams with Porous Core Resting on a Two-Parameter Elastic Foundation Using Quasi-3D Theory

open access: yesIranian Journal of Science and Technology, Transactions of Civil Engineering
Abstract In this paper, a new higher-order finite element model is proposed for free vibration and buckling analysis of functionally graded (FG) sandwich beams with porous core resting on a two-parameter Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundation based on quasi-3D deformation theory. The material properties of FG sandwich beams vary gradually through
