Equivalence of coercivity and mean coercivity in higher-order variational integrals with application to minimization

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications
We consider a functional of the type F ( u , Ω ) = ∫ Ω F ( D k u ( x ) ) d x $\mathcal{F}(u,\Omega )=\int _{\Omega}F\big(D^{k}u(x)\big)dx$ on the Dirichlet class, where F is a continuous function and Ω is an open bounded set of R n $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ with ...

Lipschitz decompositions of domains with bilaterally flat boundaries

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 111, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract We study classes of domains in Rd+1,d⩾2$\mathbb {R}^{d+1},\ d \geqslant 2$ with sufficiently flat boundaries that admit a decomposition or covering of bounded overlap by Lipschitz graph domains with controlled total surface area. This study is motivated by the following result proved by Peter Jones as a piece of his proof of the Analyst's ...

Regularity of quasiconvex envelopes

open access: yes, 2000
We prove that the quasiconvex envelope of a differentiable function which satisfies natural growth conditions at infinity is a $C^1$ function. Without the growth conditions the result fails in general.

Comparative Statics With Adjustment Costs and the Le Chatelier Principle

open access: yesEconometrica, Volume 93, Issue 2, Page 661-694, March 2025.
We develop a theory of monotone comparative statics for models with adjustment costs. We show that comparative‐statics conclusions may be drawn under the usual ordinal complementarity assumptions on the objective function, assuming very little about costs: only a mild monotonicity condition is required.

Certain Novel p,q‐Fractional Integral Inequalities of Grüss and Chebyshev‐Type on Finite Intervals

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
In this article, we investigate certain novel Grüss and Chebyshev‐type integral inequalities via fractional p,q‐calculus on finite intervals. Then, some new Pólya–Szegö–type p,q‐fractional integral inequalities are also presented. The main findings of this article can be seen as the generalizations and extensions of a large number of existing results ...

Fractional Optimization Problems

open access: yesИзвестия Иркутского государственного университета: Серия "Математика", 2014
We consider fractional maximization and minimization problems with an arbitrary feasible set, with a convex function in the numerator, and with a concave function in the denominator. These problems have many applications in economics and engineering.

Quasiconvex functions incorporating volumetric constraints are rank-one convex

open access: yes, 2008
We prove that a quasiconvex function W:Mn×n→[0,∞] which is finite on the set Σ={F:detF=1} is rank-one convex, and hence continuous, on Σ; and the same for constraints on minors.
