Quasielastic and Inelastic Neutron Scatterings of Liquid Tellurium
Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1994We have carried out quasielastic neutron scattering measurements on liquid tellurium (l-Te) at 460°C, and inelastic neutron scattering measurements on trigonal tellurium (t-Te) at 400°C, supercooled l-Te at 400°C and l-Te at 467°C. The quasielastic scattering peak is comparatively narrow at momentum transfer Q =2.0 A -1 where the first peak of the ...

Dynamics of water in a molecular sieve by quasielastic neutron scattering
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2005We have investigated the dynamics of water confined in a molecular sieve, with a cylindrical pore diameter of 10Å, by means of quasielastic neutron scattering (QENS). Both the incoherent and coherent intermediate scattering functions I(Q,t) were determined by time-of-flight QENS and the neutron spin-echo technique, respectively. The results show that I(

Quasielastic and inelastic neutron scattering in macromolecular solutions
Physical Review A, 1990We performed both quasielastic and inelastic neutron scattering, the latter extending to 1000 meV exchange energy, in pure water and in a solution containing 10% lysozyme by weight. The results obtained are discussed in the framework of a structured model of the solution, as given by many previous investigations made with optical techniques.

Dynamics of ganglioside micellar solutions by quasielastic neutron scattering
Physica B: Condensed Matter, 2004Abstract Gangliosides are double-tailed biological amphiphiles naturally abundant in the nervous system. We present a quasielastic neutron scattering study on the dynamics of ganglioside molecules in 15% concentration micellar solution. The scattering contribution due to gangliosides has been analysed in terms of a simple model of confined diffusion ...

Water Mobility in Chalk: A Quasielastic Neutron Scattering Study
The Journal of Physical Chemistry C, 2017Water mobility through porous rock has a role to play in many systems, such as contaminant remediation, CO2 storage, and oil recovery. We used inelastic and quasielastic neutron scattering to describe water dynamics in two different chalk samples that have similar pore volume (ranging from tens of micrometers to a few nanometers) but different water ...

Quasielastic Neutron Scattering from α-AgI
1978In this contribution we will present new experimental quasielastic neutron scattering data on α-AgI along with an interpretation of these data in terms of a simple model+. As has already been discussed in the introductory part of this session, α-AgI may be visualized to a first approximation as a sea of mobile silver ions within a rigid b.c.c.

Quasielastic neutron scattering for the investigation of liquids under shear
Chemical Physics, 2003Abstract Changes in the structural properties of polymers under shear are well explored by small angle neutron scattering (SANS). In the present work we show the influence of these structural ordering phenomenon on the dynamics on a atomistic length scale.

Quasielastic neutron scattering and super-protonic conductors
Solid State Ionics, 1993Abstract The present “state of art” of quasielastic incoherent neutron scattering (QINS) methods is reviewed, with special emphasis on the analysis of experiments concerning the diffusive motion of protons in solid-state protonic conductors. Models for uncorrelated and correlated diffusion, including local and long-range aspects of the motion are ...

Quasielastic neutron scattering by hydrogen in transition metals
Berichte der Bunsengesellschaft für physikalische Chemie, 1972AbstractThe quasielastic scattering of slow neutrons by hydrogen in metals is a sensitive method for the investigation of the diffusion process on an atomistic scale. First a review of the theory of the quasielastic neutron scattering by hydrogen in metals is given. Then some methods to measure the quasielastic scattered neutrons are discussed.

Quasielastic and inelastic neutron scattering on hydrated calcium silicate pastes
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2004Using the inverse geometry spectrometer QENS at the Intense Pulsed Neutron Source of the Argonne National Laboratory, we collected quasielastic and inelastic neutron scattering spectra of hydrated tricalcium and dicalcium silicate, the main components of ordinary Portland cement.
