Parity-violating quasielastic electron scattering
Nuclear Physics A, 1992Abstract Parity-violating quasielastic electron scattering from nuclei is studied within the context of the relativistic Fermi gas model. Three issues are discussed: (i) the merits of such studies for obtaining new information about single-nucleon form factors, especially the roles played by the axial-vector and strangeness form factors, (ii) the ...

Quasielastic electron scattering
Physical Review C, 1974Data and interpretation are presented for inelastic electron scattering in the quasielastic region from nine target nuclei ranging from lithium to lead at an incident energy of 500 MeV and a scattering angle of 60\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}. The average kinetic and separation energies of nucleons in these nuclei are deduced.

Quasielastic Light Scattering from Diamond
Physical Review Letters, 1985Strong quasielastic features have been found in light scattering from diamond in the frequency range 0 to \ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{} 200 GHz and have been investigated as a function of wave-vector transfer ($Q$) and temperature ($T$). The evolution of a relatively narrow Lorentzian component (\ensuremath{\sim} 10 GHz) demonstrates for the first time ...

Quasielastic light scattering microscope spectrometer
Applied Optics, 1987We have developed a quasielastic light scattering microscope spectrometer from a commercially available instrument. The coherence requirements of microscope spectrometers have been examined, and our system performs in agreement with theory. Microscopic scattering volumes can be studied while still minimizing spatial averaging effects on the intensity ...

Quasielastic scattering in PrAl3
Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1997Abstract Using the long-wavelength polarisation analysis neutron spectrometer (LONGPOL) fitted with time-of-flight analysis, the crystal field excitation spectrum of the rare earth trialuminide PrAl 3 was measured, and transitions of 4.5 and 3.7 meV were observed to take place between states of the Pr 3+ ion.

Quasielastic electron scattering in quasiparticle approach
Physical Review C, 1992A quasiparticle Hamiltonian, which includes the effects of Hartree-Fock and correlations, has been introduced through a parametrization of the radial shape of the effective mass ${\mathit{m}}^{\mathrm{*}}$(r)/m. Within this phenomenological quasiparticle approach the longitudinal and transverse response functions of quasielastic electron scatterings ...

Quasielastic γ-ray scattering from pentadecane
Physical Review A, 1990A recently developed M\"ossbauer instrument has been used to study the liquid dynamics of pentadecane at various temperatures and scattering angles. Widths of the quasielastic signal extracted from the data ranged between 16 GHz (at 12 \ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C) and 48 GHz (at 74 \ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C) at a scattering vector ...

Parity-violating quasielastic electron scattering
Physical Review C, 1993The parity-violating asymmetry [ital A] is calculated for quasielastic electron scattering. We use a relativistic mean field model of the nuclear matter response. A Lorentz scalar mean field (which reduces the nucleon's mass) decreases [vert bar][ital A][vert bar] by a relatively large amount.

Quasielastic Electron Scattering and Vacuum Polarization
Physical Review Letters, 1989The longitudinal response function for quasielastic electron scattering from /sup 12/C and /sup 40/Ca at a momentum transfer q = 550 MeV is calculated in a relativistic random-phase approximation (RPA). The particle-hole response is calculated exactly in the finite system while vacuum-polarization effects are included in a local-density approximation ...

Pionic effects in quasielastic electron scattering
Nuclear Physics A, 1990Abstract Quasielastic electron scattering from nuclei at high momentum transfer and energy loss is approached using a model which incorporates specific classes of effects arising from the exchange of pions between nucleons in the nucleus. Building on the (purely nucleonic) relativistic Fermi gas responses, pionic effects in 1p1h correlation and meson
