Existence of Solution for Two Classes of Quasilinear Systems Defined on a Nonreflexive Orlicz–Sobolev Spaces

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper proves the existence of nontrivial solution for two classes of quasilinear systems of the type −ΔΦ1u=Fu(x,u,v)+λRu(x,u,v)inΩ−ΔΦ2v=−Fv(x,u,v)−λRv(x,u,v)inΩu=v=0on∂Ω$$ \left\{\begin{array}{l}\hfill -{\Delta}_{\Phi_1}u={F}_u\left(x,u,v\right)+\lambda {R}_u\left(x,u,v\right)\kern0.1832424242424242em \mathrm{in}\kern0.3em \Omega ...

Quasilinear systems with several periodic solutions [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1971
By using topological degree, it is proved that for a certain class of quasilinear systems of ordinary differential equations of the form \[

Linear Toroidal‐Inertial Waves on A Differentially Rotating Sphere with Application to Helioseismology: Modeling, Forward and Inverse Problems

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper develops a mathematical framework for interpreting observations of solar inertial waves in an idealized setting. Under the assumption of purely toroidal linear waves on the sphere, the stream function of the flow satisfies a fourth‐order scalar equation.

The Cost of Convenience: A Hedonic Approach to Travel Time Valuation and Cost‐Benefit Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Regional Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents a novel revealed‐preference approach to estimating the value of travel time (VTT) and calculating consumer surplus for the economic evaluation of transport infrastructure. Departing from traditional stated‐preference models, we derive time valuations by linking residential rental transactions in Greater Sydney to employment

Multiple solutions for a nonhomogeneous quasilinear sub-elliptic system with critical growth and logarithmic perturbation

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica
The interest of this paper is that we use the critical point theory to prove the existence of a sequence of non-trivial solutions for a class of nonhomogeneous quasilinear Sub-elliptic systems with critical growth and logarithmic perturbation.

On Lyapunov-type inequality for a class of quasilinear systems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2014
In this paper, we establish a new Lyapunov-type inequality for quasilinear systems. Our result in special case reduces to the result of Watanabe et al. [J. Inequal. Appl. 242(2012), 1-8]. As an application, we also obtain lower bounds for the eigenvalues

Analyticity of solutions for quasilinear wave equations and other quasilinear systems [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh: Section A Mathematics, 2014
We prove the persistence of analyticity for classical solutions of the Cauchy problem for quasilinear wave equations with analytic data. Our results show that the analyticity of solutions, stated by the Cauchy–Kowalewski and Ovsiannikov–Nirenberg theorems, lasts until a classical solution exists.

Random Carbon Tax Policy and Investment Into Emission Abatement Technologies

open access: yesMathematical Finance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We analyze the problem of a profit‐maximizing electricity producer, subject to carbon taxes, who decides on investments into CO2$\rm CO_2$ abatement technologies. We assume that the carbon tax policy is random and that the investment in the abatement technology is divisible, irreversible, and subject to transaction costs.

Exact boundary observability for quasilinear hyperbolic systems

open access: yes, 2008
By means of a direct and constructive method based on the theory of semi-global C1 solution, the local exact boundary observability is established for one-dimensional first order quasilinear hyperbolic systems with general nonlinear boundary ...
