Inconsistency of quasilinear theory

The Physics of Fluids, 1983
Mode-coupling terms yield non-negligible corrections to the quasilinear terms in the evolution of one-dimensional Langmuir turbulence generated by the weak warm beam instability.

Quasilinear theory of Cherenkov-drift instability

Physical Review E, 2003
We examine linear and quasiliner stages of Cherenkov-drift instability developed in the relativistic magnetized electron-positron plasma penetrated by ultrarelativistic beam of electrons (or positrons). The plasma flow is streaming along the slightly curved magnetic field lines.

Quasilinear theory of viscoelasticity

Polymer Mechanics, 1972
By postulating equal contributions the number of kernels in the principal cubic theory of viscoelasticity and in the theory with regular kernels of two arguments is reduced to three. For certain quasilinear relations all the kernels and functions are determined from creep, relaxation, and simple loading and deformation tests.

Quasilinear Control Theory: An Overview

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2011
Abstract This paper presents a complete set of methods for the performance analysis and design of closed loop systems with nonlinear actuators and sensors (so-called Linear Plant/Nonlinear Instrumentation, or LPNI, systems). As it turns out, these methods are quite similar to those in the linear case. Accordingly, the resulting methods are referred to

Experimental test of quasilinear theory

Physics of Fluids B: Plasma Physics, 1991
The use of the random phase approximation in quasilinear theory has been controversial for some time. For the bump-on-tail instability this approximation leads to the neglect of mode coupling effects mediated by the resonant particles. Recently, it has been argued theoretically and numerically that resonant particle mediated mode coupling effects ...

Oscillation center quasilinear theory

The Physics of Fluids, 1973
A new formulation of the quasilinear theory of weakly turbulent plasmas is presented, which explicitly separates resonant and nonresonant wave-particle interactions from the outset. This is achieved by making a canonical transformation to “oscillation center variables” before attempting to solve the Vlasov equation.
