Functional variation among LPMOs revealed by the inhibitory effects of cyanide and buffer ions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study addresses the inhibition of lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) by cyanide and explains how and why the magnitude of observed inhibitory effects depends on the way LPMO reactions are setup and on the type of LPMO. Enzymes known as lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) are mono‐copper polysaccharide‐degrading peroxygenases that ...

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

High-speed fluorescent thermal imaging of quench propagation in high temperature superconductor tapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Fluorescent Microthermographic Imaging, a method using rare-earth fluorescent coatings with temperature-dependent light emission, was used for quench investigation in high temperature superconductors (HTS). A fluorophore was embedded in a polymer matrix and used as a coating on top of an HTS tape, while being excited with UV light and recorded with a ...

Self-Assembly of Pheophorbide-a on Poly-L-Lysine [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Binding of Pheophorbide-a of to poly-L-lysine (PLL) have been studied in neutral aqueous buffered solutions of low and near-physiological ionic strengths with low ethanol content (2.4-5.9 %) a wide range of molar polymer-to-dye ratios (P/D) using absorption and polarized fluorescence spectroscopy, fluorimetric titration, fluorescence melting.

Fluorescence Quenching of Aromatic Amino Acids by Rhodium Nanoparticles

open access: yesSubstantia
In this paper, the fluorescence quenching of the aromatic amino acids tyrosine and tryptophan by rhodium nanoparticles has been investigated. The choice of rhodium nanoparticles was determined by the fact that the plasmonic maximum of the nanoparticles ...

Synthesis of 5-Dialkyl(aryl)aminomethyl-8-hydroxyquinoline Dansylates as Selective Fluorescent Sensors for Fe3+

open access: yesMolecules, 2007
A series of 5-dialkyl(aryl)aminomethyl-8-hydroxyquinoline dansylates were synthesized and their fluoroionophoric properties toward representative alkali ions, alkaline earth ions and transition metal ions were investigated.

Stochastic variation in the FOXM1 transcription program mediates replication stress tolerance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cellular heterogeneity is a major cause of drug resistance in cancer. Segeren et al. used single‐cell transcriptomics to investigate gene expression events that correlate with sensitivity to the DNA‐damaging drugs gemcitabine and prexasertib. They show that dampened expression of transcription factor FOXM1 and its target genes protected cells against ...

Temperature and Humidity Dependence of Air Fluorescence Yield measured by AIRFLY [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Instrum.Meth.A597:50-54,2008, 2007
The fluorescence detection of ultra high energy cosmic rays requires a detailed knowledge of the fluorescence light emission from nitrogen molecules over a wide range of atmospheric parameters, corresponding to altitudes typical of the cosmic ray shower development in the atmosphere.

Models and measurements of energy-dependent quenching. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Energy-dependent quenching (qE) in photosystem II (PSII) is a pH-dependent response that enables plants to regulate light harvesting in response to rapid fluctuations in light intensity.
