Morphological discrimination between Quercus robur L. and Quercus petraea (Matt.) Liebl. acorns.

open access: yes, 1989
We study the practical feasibility of discrimination between pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.) and durmast oak (Quercus petraea (Matt.) Liebl.) using morphological parameters. 44 populations were sampled, during mast crop year 1984, mainly from West, South-West and Central France.

Influence of desiccation sensitivity and critical moisture content on Quercus cerris, Quercus petraea and Quercus robur acorns

open access: yesŠumarski list
In this study, critical moisture contents and desiccation sensitivity of Quercus cerris (Turkey oak), Quercus petraea (Sessile oak), Quercus robur (Pedunculate oak) seeds were determined to see how desiccation affects acorn moisture content and germination behaviour. The moisture content of the harvested acorns was found to be 41% for Q.

Growth and nutrition of Quercus petraea underplanted in artificial

open access: yesForest Systems, 2011
This study presents results on the growth and nutritional status of Quercus petraea trees underplanted in an artificial pine stand as a conversion strategy. A total of 162 plots of 400 to 800 m2 were established in underplanted pine stands (130 plots), naturally regenerated oaks in pine stands (23 plots) and pure oak plantations (9 plots).
